On duty, it is a good idea to distribute your units across the area. Stay focused and watch the map. It is very easy to miss a new incident. You can always check the active incident from the incident log in the bottom right corner of the screen. At the top of the screen there is a time control device. If you run into trouble, you can slow down or stop time. In the bottom left corner you can find the unit list. The red dart points to the time panel, the yellow one points to the unit menu and the green one points to the incident log. Read the incident report carefully. Look at the number of injured people and/or suspects. Think about what you need to resolve the case quickly. There is no use sending a police van with a fully armed team to ticket a driver. A blue icon means you need the police to resolve the case, a red icon means you need the fire department, and a white icon means you need medical services. Icons with two or three colors mean you need more than one service to resolve the case. Always check whether your units have arrived at the scene. Sometimes you can accidentally click next to the icon on the map, and your units stay there and don't take part in resolving the case. Units at the scene are always displayed above the incident icon. If you have selected the unit, the icon has a bold box. One emergency unit must remain at the scene last. If you need to, you can take other units from the scene and use them at the next incident. Injured people are marked with a blood drop icon. One drop of blood means the person only needs first aid. Two drops indicate a seriously injured person who needs medical treatment. Equipment increases your rescuers' stats and lets them work faster at the scene. Seriously injured people and criminals must be transported to the nearest hospital/police station.

What Are the 911 Operator Tactics and Tips?

You should always start the conversation with the question "When?" Even if you think the call is not an emergency. This game has a few surprises. The tracking device keeps working after the conversation, but you lose valuable time. Ask as many questions as possible. The more you know, the better you can handle the situation. Listen for any background noise during the conversation. It helps especially during empty calls. Be kind and understanding, but be firm. Don't hesitate to say no when a call is non-emergency. Remember that your units are limited, so you should only send them to emergencies. If the caller has said it is not an emergency, don't send any team. Being inconsistent is bad for your reputation. The 911 line is for emergencies happening right now. Be careful when giving instructions to the caller. Always remember their safety! During the conversation time slows, so you can focus on that particular call.

If you receive an unusual call, don't ignore the Smile Order. Start acting unusual. The Community Policing Medal is quite hard to get to 100 points. You can do this during special events in campaign mode.
