Apex Legends Chaos Theory Patch Notes: Buffs and Nerfs (March 2021)

Respawn Entertainment, shared the Chaos Theory patch notes. Many updates came to the game with the new event. Among the updates are legend buffs and nerfs as well as updates that will seriously change the game's meta . 

When Does Apex Legends Chaos Theory Start?

March 9is when the event starts; it will last 2 weeks and end on March 23. 

Apex Legends Solo Queue Change

When you are not playing with friends, strangers who joined your squad could sometimes hurt your game quality. However, with the new patch, the "No Fill" feature coming to Apex Legends will let you fight alone against the other squads on the battlefield.  

Apex Legends – Buffed Legends

Pathfinder

• Low Profile passive removed. 

Revenant

• Revenant's Silence ability now disables Mirage's Cloaked revive & Respawn and Octane's Swift Mend.

Wattson

• Wattson now has passive shield regeneration of 0.5 HP/second.

Rampart

• Explosives now deal normal damage to Amped Cover instead of 200 damage. 
• Explosives now deal normal damage to Sheila instead of 175 damage.  

Apex Legends – Nerfed Legends

Gibraltar

• Removed the 15% faster healing while in the Dome of Protection.  

Horizon

• Black Hole cooldown increased from 2 minutes to 3 minutes. 

Caustic

• Nox Gas Grenade cooldown increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes.   
• Nox Gas now deals a flat 5 HP per tick instead of ramping up from 6 HP → 12 HP. 

Apex Legends Weapon Updates

Weapon Optics

• All gold AR and LMG default optics updated to 2x Bruiser.  

Mastiff

• Pellet damage reduced from 13 to 11. Fire rate increased from 1.0 to 1.1. 

Wingman

• Magazine capacity increased by 1. 

Hemlok

• Fire spread increased. 

Apex Legends Quality of Life Changes

Kings Canyon Loot

• A pass was made over the loot to improve quality on the map, while retaining a certain amount of loot after Mirage Voyage flew away.  
• Each of the wooden shacks on the map now has a few more items and slightly better quality. 
• Spotted Lake was reduced from High to Medium quality. 
• Crash Site: the loot in the area was redistributed. Although the amount stayed the same, higher-quality loot was added. 
• Caustic Treatment now has more loot than Water Treatment.

Locked Weapon Optic Swap  

• Fully kitted gold weapons and weapons with fully locked attachment slots, like most crate weapons, can now have their optic removed and replaced with a different scope. However, these changes do not apply to the Kraber rifle. 
• Assists were added next to kills in the in-game interface. This was already available in Ranked matches and has now been added to normal matches too. Assists still do not contribute to XP. 
• Assists and Kills were added to your squad's banners and will be shown at the end of the match. 
• Club names will now appear on the "Match Summary" and "Champion" screens if all players are part of the same club. 
• Items will no longer "stick" to the Crafting Replicator when dropped on it.   

Badge Progress

• For badges that show progress over a longer period, hovering over the badge will show you more information. For example, if you are trying to get 50 wins as "Lifeline", you will now see that you have 45 instead of somewhere between 15 and 50. 

Death Box Ping

• When respawning, you can now ping and mark your own death box to help it be found more easily. 

Gold Backpack

• Players respawned with a gold backpack will have an energy sound depending on the armor level they equipped during the respawn. They will also be able to show the armor heal effect when the respawn ends.  

Other Changes

• PC players can now go back from the lobby to the title screen to allow switching data centers without restarting the game. 
• Numbers were added to Advanced Look Controls. This will help people experiment and easily return to their favorite settings.
• When scanning a beacon for Ring 6, players can now see where Ring 6 ends.

Apex Legends Bug Fixes

Gibraltar

• Fixed an issue where Gibraltar's Gun Shield did not take hits while it was up when releasing ADS and firing at the same time.  

Wraith

• Wraith players can no longer cancel Into the Void by jumping into a wall. 
• The new Skydive emote will now work with "Legendary skins".  

Caustic

• Fixed a bug that caused Caustic's NoxGas to flicker for some affected players. 

Crypto

• The animation that deploys Crypto's Drone can no longer be skipped by throwing a holospray.  

Loba

• Fixed several areas that could cause Loba to get stuck when teleporting. 

Rampart

• Players can no longer use Sheila to get under the world when placed very close to a Phase Runner on Olympus. 

Horizon

• Fixed Gravity Lift falling through the floor when used on the train tracks at World's Edge Sorting Factory. 
• Using a zipline after a Gravity Lift will no longer improve accuracy.

Fuse

• Motherload will now damage and destroy jump pads. 
• While under cover, players will no longer be pushed out after using Motherload. 
• Players can no longer double their grenades after looting a dead Fuse's death box. 

Mastiff

• Dropping and picking up the Mastiff will no longer cause it to reload. 

30-30 Repeater 

• Dropping and picking up the 30-30 will no longer cause it to reload.
• The 30-30 will now have spread deviation when firing while ADS and jumping.

MISC

• Fixed a bug that prevented Steam users from sending friend requests to each other. 
• Usernames now update when switching between the Origin Client and the Steam Client. 
• Fixed a bug that prevented players from creating or joining clubs because their EA Accounts were already linked to another platform.
