How Do You Build a Farming Industry in Cities Skylines?

What you see on my screen is a saved game I have been playing myself. In this series we'll be playing entirely with mods enabled, because we'll be using mods for the farming industry. I could leave my current city aside and work on a new map, or I could use this save to fix the issues. Because right now we're going to need a farming industry, and I want to briefly show how to build one.

What Do We Need for a Farming Industry in Cities Skylines?

For the farming industry, we need fertile land. How do we find this fertile land? As you can see, these greenish-yellow areas represent fertile soil. By clicking here, we can find fertile, suitable land. Also, when we look at the other colors, we can see where oil comes out. For example, oil industry is extracted here. There's also a mining industry located here.

Before setting up the farming industry, we also need to measure pollution levels. When we select and click on our tile, we can see the clean and polluted areas. Since this is modded, pollution isn't showing, but when you're not using mods you should pay attention to this. Because just like in real life, farm crops and fruit don't grow in polluted areas in this game either.

How Many Types of Farming Industry Are There in Cities Skylines?

Now we'll focus on how to designate this area as a farming zone. This is actually our most important issue. We have the option to build two types of farming industry. First, we can choose the classic industry. This is our normal industry. The second method is another option that comes with a DLC. By purchasing this expansion from the game's site or through Epic Games, you can unlock many industry specializations, including farming. Today I'll try to show both, but the main thing we'll focus on is the default industry sector that comes when you buy the game.

For this, first we need to build a road. We can't start work without our road, so I'll build a single-lane industrial road. I'll continue this myself in upcoming videos, so I won't make it too big. I'll just show how it's done. Yes, we can delete it by pressing B. Let's select the road again. Yes, I have selected the road. Actually we drew the road a bit crooked, so let's fix it. Okay, that's better now.

Now this road will be the outer line.
