CS2 October 3 Update Notes
CS2 just received one of its biggest updates yet. Let's take a closer look at the October 3 update notes:
October 3 Update Notes: The Armory: A Brand New System in CS2
One of the biggest additions Valve brought with this update is The Armory. Through this system, players can access more than 100 cosmetic items via the in-game store. These include new charms for weapons, stickers, and more. The Armory takes players' in-game look and style options to the next level. With the special Armory Pass, players can start earning credit usable on cosmetic items. Players who want to can stack Armory Passes to access even more cosmetic items. This system gives players more control over their cosmetic items and lets them expand their collections.
Three new weapon collections added alongside the Armory Pass also stand out: the Overpass Collection, the Graphic Design Collection, and the Sport & Field Collection. Each collection includes 16 different weapon finishes, giving players the chance to personalize their weapons. In addition, a new community-designed case type, the Gallery Case, has also been added to the game. This case includes 17 different weapon skins, giving players even more cosmetic options.
October 3 Update Notes: Charms Feature
Another major addition to CS2 is weapon charms. These charms come as new cosmetic items that give your weapons a dynamic look. Charms are special decorations that players can obtain from the Armory and apply to their weapons. Players can easily attach a Charm to their weapon by dragging and dropping it. Only one charm can be attached to a weapon at a time, but the fact that these charms can be reused from the inventory offers flexibility. In addition, players can collect the charms they've applied to their weapons through a feature called the Charm Squad and store them for later use. This system lets players personalize their favorite weapons and express themselves more distinctly on the battlefield.
October 3 Update Notes: Inventory and Item Changes
CS2's inventory system was also overhauled with this update. All items purchased from the in-game store, Trade Offers, or the Steam Community Market are now subject to a 7-day trade and market restriction. This requires players to manage their items more carefully. In addition, players can now preview the stickers, patches, and charms in their inventory. A wear-level selector for stickers has also been added to the game. This lets you determine how worn the stickers applied to weapons will look. A new method for instantly removing stickers from weapons in the inventory has also been added.
Another important change is that players can now see a real-time preview when adding name tags to their weapons. This makes personalizing weapons easier and more effective.

October 3 Update Notes: Animation Improvements
Valve also made significant tweaks to CS2's animation system. In particular, character posture on steep slopes has been improved. The excessive leaning issue known as "MJ leaning" has been fixed, and characters' feet are now properly anchored to the ground. This delivers more natural character movement. Ladder animations have also been updated so that characters' heads move more in line with the camera angle. In addition, bugs like character positions breaking during jumps have been fixed.
Gameplay Changes
Significant changes were also made to the gameplay side of the update. Flashbangs and HE grenades were causing early detonation issues in certain situations. This new update fixes those issues, aiming to give players a more strategic gameplay experience. In addition, fixes to in-game sounds have made footstep sounds more realistic.
Map Updates
This update also brings a number of improvements to maps. Some geometry errors and pixel peeks on popular maps like Ancient, Anubis, and Dust2 have been fixed. In addition, Italy has been added to the game as a new competitive map. These map improvements will help players enjoy a smoother, more trouble-free experience.
Network Improvements
On the network performance side, Valve addressed issues like network jitter and packet loss. In particular, network jitter, which negatively affected gameplay, is now better managed thanks to new measurement methods. This will give players a more stable gameplay experience.
