- Valve's Source 2 engine is leaked to be added to CS:GO as a beta at the end of March 2023.
- Developers are reportedly working on a new tickless/subtick system instead of 128-tick servers.
- Valve reportedly spent $300,000 total on two maps, Anubis and Tuscan, and a Source 2 map pool is said to be ready.
Valve's game engine Source 2 looks like it will be added to CS:GO very soon. Plenty of leaks about the update have surfaced over the past few months, and Richard Lewis revealed that Valve will release Source 2 as a beta at the end of March.
According to Lewis' sources, Source 2's release is quite close, and it's known that professional players have already tested the update. Most of the community is excited because this is known as an update that could completely change the way CS:GO works. Graphics could be upgraded to today's standards, developers could update some mechanics, and they could change the current system by adding 128-tick servers. Now let's take a look at the latest CS:GO Source 2 update leaks.
CS:GO Source 2 Update: What Are the Latest Leaks?
March 7, 2023: Word on Whether There Will Be 128-Tick Servers
I don't think CS:GO on Source 2 will introduce 128 tick rate, based on new strings in Dota 2 updates, devs are working on a new "tickless / subtick" system. pic.twitter.com/ExSSzYVgrX

Gabe Follower, one of the most reliable CS:GO leakers, said he isn't sure Valve will add 128-tick servers with the Source 2 update. All official game modes in CS:GO still run at 64-tick, which forces players to use third-party platforms if they want to play on 128-tick servers. Based on recent Dota 2 updates, Gabe Follower reported that the developers are working on a new "tickless/subtick" system.
March 8, 2023: Valve Spent $300,000 to Buy Two Maps
The CS:GO item schema API includes internal things for whatever reason, which includes such bangers like:
One-time Payment for Map 'de_anubis' (USD $150,000.00) One-time Payment for Map 'de_tuscan' (USD $150,000.00) pic.twitter.com/FcEMChtcgg— Pavel Djundik (@thexpaw) March 8, 2023
It was leaked in CS:GO's item schema API that Valve paid $150,000 for the rights to Anubis and $150,000 for the rights to Tuscan, two maps made by independent map creators. This information has not yet been confirmed by Valve.

And the latest leak about the game came as of yesterday. It's been reported that a map pool for Source 2 is being prepared. The developer build is being updated, which means there won't be another update for Source 1, and according to respected CS:GO leaker Ale_CS, this means Source 2 could be added this week. Other CS:GO updates can serve as a reference here, since most CS:GO updates have released on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
It's hard to say for certain right now that all these leaks will actually make it into the game, but as CS:GO fans, we'll just have to wait and see!
