Weapon Damage Above All Else in Diablo 4

In Diablo 4, you'll get tons of items of various quality and rarity. That's great, and all of them provide boosted stats for your character, and if they're Legendary, there will be some Legendary Powers that will hopefully complete the build you've chosen. In Diablo 4 there are base stats alongside a wide variety of Affixes you can get on armor and weapons. That said, on any weapon for any class, there's by far one most important stat.
This stat clearly boosts how hard you hit, and for a class like the Sorcerer or Necromancer, it also covers spells. If the Weapon Damage difference matters, we'd go so far as to say you should switch to a Legendary over a Blue (Magic) weapon. That said, if you're lucky enough to find one of those ultra-rare, powerful pieces of loot you can only equip one of, Unique weapons or gloves might be the exception.
Explore the Fractured Peaks in D4's Open Beta
During Diablo 4's beta weekends, players will be able to explore the entire snow-covered Fractured Peaks region. There's a lot to explore, and we encourage both newcomers and veterans to go off the beaten path and find side quests, dungeons, and Lilith Altars. You'll need to complete all three Strongholds in the Fractured Peaks region at least once, and if you're preparing for the game's full launch, you might find a great leveling path there.
Below, you'll find an overview of the content currently available in Diablo 4's Fractured Peaks region.
- x7 Waypoints
- x24 Side Quests
- x23 Side Dungeons
- x28 Lilith Altars
- x3 Strongholds
As an extra small tip, unlocking Waypoints via Fast Travel — which will be a big help when Ashava shows up during Diablo 4's beta weekends — helps you rush to locations quickly.
Do Whatever You Want in Sanctuary
Beta is beta, and for those who purchased the Standard Edition, progress won't carry over to the game's full release on June 2, 2023 (Early Access) or June 6, 2023. That's why we recommend you play as much as you want, go wild experimenting with class builds, and just have fun.
It's worth noting that Early Access Beta progress does carry over to the Open Beta. Even so, you should still spend your Gold however you like, try out any crafting, use up those crafting materials, and not worry about anything other than pure enjoyment.
The only other goal will likely be to play all the classes, so you'll know which one you like best before the game fully launches.
Take Down Diablo 4's Bosses, Including Ashava
Diablo 4's beta will feature a few dungeon/story bosses and a world boss called Ashava the Pestilent that you can defeat. As a great combat tip for newcomers to Sanctuary, we recommend learning Diablo 4's Stagger combat mechanic with our dedicated guide. To explain it quickly for the purposes of this article, the more crowd control effects you apply to big bosses, the faster their Stagger bars (the thin gold bar beneath the Health bar) fill up. Once filled, bosses are stunned for 12 seconds and become extremely vulnerable, and they also take on a disadvantage for the rest of the fight.
Choose the Best Diablo 4 Class and Build
Our last tip is to choose the Diablo 4 class that best suits your preferred playstyle. If you like the idea of being a squishy melee/ranged hybrid who sets traps, go with a Rogue with a great build. Those who like getting into the thick of things should probably go with the Barbarian class. It's also our top pick for the best class for beginners during Diablo 4's beta weekends thanks to its high survivability and mobility. Check out our best Diablo 4 Barbarian build called "Bleed Them Dry." Alternatively, you could go with the Sorcerer and test out our "Frozen Popsicle" class build. While the Rogue is a bit harder to play than the Barbarian and Sorcerer, you can also try our Diablo 4 Rogue build by picking the best skills, items, and more. Only the three classes mentioned above are available with Diablo 4's Early Access beta. When the Open Beta begins on March 24, you'll have two more options: Necromancer and Druid. While digesting these tips for beginners during Diablo 4's beta weekends, you can learn more about the world of Sanctuary from the video below.
Here are five essential tips to make it a little easier for Diablo 4 newcomers to make their first trip into Sanctuary. Once the beta weekends wrap up, we'll update this article with some launch tips for those new to the iconic ARPG series.
