How to Fix Slow PUBG Mobile Download Speeds

When it comes to mobile gaming, PUBG Mobile remains one of smartphone gamers' top picks. Over the years, the game has improved massively. We see regular updates to new maps, weapons, and interfaces. That means every time you rush to update your PUBG Mobile build, you often end up downloading multiple gigabytes worth of update. At this point, some PUBG players complain that download speed is quite slow.

In this guide, I have put together some quick troubleshooting techniques to help players get past PUBG Mobile's slow download speed. I have also gone over several possible causes of this issue. Sometimes the fixes won't work because the problem lies with your device itself. If you're an eager player, you don't want to get stuck downloading updates. So follow this guide and try out the fixes I mention.

How Do You Increase PUBG Mobile Download Speed?

Let's jump right into the causes and solutions for this problem.

Use a smartphone or tablet with the latest processing unit

It doesn't matter if you have a great internet connection if you're playing PUBG on a smartphone with an old processor. Chances are you'll run into a slow download speed problem. I have personally played PUBG on the Snapdragon 845, Snapdragon 625, and the A13 Bionic. All three chipsets are from different generations. Playing on the SD 845 was smooth and fast, while the experience on a phone with the SD 625 wasn't the same. The game wasn't smooth even on medium settings. I even played PUBG on the current A13 Bionic chipset used in the iPhone. The experience was impressively clean.

In the same way, a good or bad processing unit also affects other functions of the game. The most important of these is the game's download speed. If you're using an old chipset, naturally, downloading a game like PUBG that has updates larger than 2 GB is going to be very slow. That's why, if you're serious about gaming, I recommend investing in a device with the newest chipset. Along with gameplay, your game download speed will also improve significantly.

Use WiFi to download

Downloading PUBG app updates over a strong WiFi network is always the better choice. Updating over a cellular network will be very slow. Usually, after downloading 500 MB or more, the download will stop on its own. If that happens, you'll have to start the download from scratch, which gets really frustrating. So avoid downloading gigabyte-sized updates over a cellular network. Instead, connect to a high-speed WiFi network and download the PUBG Mobile update.

Close other apps that are eating your internet

Multitasking only looks good on a device with a rock-solid internet connection. Otherwise, every single app will stall and slow down. If you're downloading a PUBG update larger than 2 GB, try closing your browser and any active web pages. Also close any other active social media apps that are using the internet. That way, your entire internet connection will be dedicated to downloading the PUBG update. This always works. Once the download is finished, you can go back to using your other apps and browser.

Turn Off Streaming Services to Speed Up PUBG Downloads

If you're thinking about downloading and installing a 2 GB PUBG update in the background while also streaming some Netflix, I'd recommend dropping that idea. Streaming services consume roughly 1 GB of data per hour to deliver HD content. So if your network isn't strong enough to handle both, your PUBG download speed will drop. Whether your network is strong or not, if downloading PUBG updates is your priority, you need to make sure no other program is using up your data.

Check your internet connection

Sometimes, even though you're using the latest smartphone or tablet to play, you can still run into slow download speed issues. Because of this, you need to check whether your network connection in your area is working properly or if there are any issues. You can also contact your ISP and ask whether they're experiencing a server outage due to maintenance or another problem. If that's the case, you might not be the only customer running into the issue. Wait a while until the problem is resolved on the ISP's end. Then try downloading the PUBG Mobile updates again.

You can also run an internet speed test. It's easy to do, and here are the steps.

• Open Google
• Type "Internet Speed Test" into the search bar
• You can click any of the links you see in the first search results to run a test. (Türk Telekom shows up first, so you can try that one)
• This way, you can understand your internet speed and manage your downloads accordingly.

Try using a VPN

If your regular ISP network isn't fast enough, you can try any VPN and check whether it improves PUBG Mobile's download speed. I can't guarantee this process will work. It'll entirely depend on which server your device connects to. If that server is faster, your internet will be faster too. (Not a setup I'd recommend much in Türkiye, but if you already use a VPN, you can give it a try)

Don't Download Torrents

While downloading the PUBG Mobile app or its updates, don't download any torrents. This will also consume a lot of data in the background. Normally, people use their WiFi to download torrents. The idea here is to prioritize the PUBG Mobile download and dedicate your internet bandwidth to finishing it quickly. If your network isn't already fast enough to run two data-heavy downloads at once, either way it'll hold back your download speed.

Pause Other App Updates to Speed Up PUBG Downloads

Normally, multiple apps, in-app stores, or the Play Store are all waiting to grab updates. If you want to download PUBG Mobile updates as fast as possible, pause the update downloads for your other apps. Let PUBG download its updates first, then move on to your other apps. I always do this myself, and it works quite well. Focusing on a single download makes it much easier to get that update downloaded comfortably.
