IEM Katowice 2021 hosted one of the most unforgettable finals in CS:GO history. Spirit and Liquid, eliminated by their opponents in the semifinals, failed to deliver what was expected of them. Coming from behind, Gambit Esports and Virtus.Pro brushed aside every opponent after the quarterfinals and through the semifinals to book their spots in the final. Both teams gave it their all in the Bo5 clash, but Gambit Esports gave their opponent no room to breathe.
In the first map, Virtus.Pro took a 1-0 lead with a 16-14 scoreline. In the second map, played on Dust2, Gambit Esports avoided repeating the mistakes from the first map and won quickly. In the third map, played on Train, Hobbit carried his team and led Gambit Esports to victory.
In the fourth map, played on Overpass, Gambit Esports closed out the first half 11-4 ahead. In the second half, Virtus.Pro closed the gap after a strong push, but Gambit Esports held onto their momentum and won 16-12 to become the IEM Katowice 2021 champions.
