League of Legends Season 12 kicks off with the January 20 release of Zeri - an electric burst. But Riot has big plans for its 2022 releases after that.
The first of them will be a new support that fills a gap in the bright and bubbly enchanter category with a dark twist. Here is what we know about League champion 159, the upcoming Zaun support, including their abilities, background and release date.
What Is the Name of the New Zaun Support in LoL in 2022?
On opening day, January 7, Riot briefly revealed who the new Zaun support in League of Legends Season 12 would be. The first focus was creating a new style of enchanter support. The new support, which breaks away from the shielders and healers led by Sona, Lulu, Nami, Yuumi, Janna and more, will depart from that theme. Lead champion producer Ryan 'Reav3' Mireles said: "There were a lot of cheerful, colorful, harmonious champions out there, and we felt support players deserved something more sinister and dark to balance out that cherry brightness."
Are the New Support's Abilities Known?
Riot has not revealed the abilities yet, but one thing is clear: the developers are trying to fill a niche in the game's enchanter support category. Its kit will probably be very skill-expressive and will let support players show themselves rather than hiding behind teamfights that do the dirty work. Reav3 added: "We also wanted to make a champion whose theme and kit make support champions feel like a boss." When Riot makes these details public in League of Legends Season 12, we will inform you about the new Zaun support's abilities and kit.
When Will the New LoL Support Champion Be Released in 2022?
The next Zaun support will be released later in League of Legends Season 12. It will be the launch after AD carry Zeri, who will reach the live servers in Patch 12.2.
