Marvel's Midnight Suns brings back the XCOM-style super-hero combat, combined with a semi-open world area you can explore during the times your team isn't actively working to take down Hydra. The open base of operations is full of secrets to uncover and hidden paths to unlock. To open these blocked paths you'll need four Word of Power abilities (Open, Reveal, Purify, and Break). How can you get all the Words of Power in Marvel's Midnight Suns? Let's take a look together!

How Can You Get All the Words of Power in Marvel's Midnight Suns?

Open

The first Word of Power opens the blocked doors around the Abbey and the surrounding forest. You're given it through story progression, so you don't need to worry about finding it. Early in the game, when you have to visit Agatha's shrine, a quest will start automatically. The short quest will take you to a Blood Gate. Interact with the gate to start an easy fight your demon dog Charlie will help with.

After the fight, you'll receive the first of the four Moon Seals, which will grant the ability to use Open around the forest surrounding the Abbey.

Reveal

Reveal makes invisible objects or structures visible when used near the corresponding Reveal rune. The process is a bit trickier since it involves finding four elemental rods scattered around the Abbey. Here's where to look for all four:

  • Fire Rod: This rod sits on a pedestal inside the abbey, at the southernmost point of the chapel.
  • Water Rod: This rod is also on Abbey grounds. It's to the left of the Common Room, under the small bridge in the Grotto.
  • Air Rod: This rod is found at the edge of a cliff in the Whispering Wood. It's northwest of Agatha's Altar.
  • Earth Rod: The last rod is inside the crypt you emerge from at the start of the game, at Hunter's Folly. Use the Open command to enter and grab the rod.

Bring the rods to Agatha's Altar and place them on the pedestals there to get the second Moon Seal. Use this seal to unlock the next Blood Gate just north of the Standing Stones. It's worth noting that the recommended level for this combat trial is level eight, and you can only attempt it once per night. Once you win, though, you'll receive Reveal.

Purify

The Purify Word of Power clears the vines blocking your way in the Abbey woods. It can't be obtained until you've made some story progress, but you can still start the related side quest to get things moving. Head to Shaw's Church in the northeast part of the map to start a conversation with Agatha. After the conversation, use Open on the door next to Agatha, then use it again on the door behind the side room.

Exit the church through the back door and turn right to find the path leading to the red zone. Talk to Doctor Strange at the Abbey to learn how to get rid of the ward. After you show him the ward, he'll need some time to work on it. You'll need to complete the The Bell Tolls story mission for Strange to find a solution. Grab the Symbiote vial from the forge and take it to Shaw's Church to deploy the containment.

Use Reveal at the table next to the church's back exit to find the hidden drawings. Examine them to finish this church portion of the quest. Talk to Agatha again the following night to keep looking for the Moon Seal. She'll then task you with finding tainted soil at three witch dens. Here's where to find them:

  • First Warren: The tainted soil here is inside a small cave south of Stone Terrace.
  • Second Warren: The soil here is inside another cave just north of Stone Terrace.
  • Third Warren: The third soil spot is next to a long stream southwest of the Shop — no cave this time.

Return to Agatha once you've found all the tainted soil. She'll point you toward the Hanging Tree, west of Shaw's Church. It looks more like a giant stump than a full tree, and it's covered in glowing green runes.

Use Reveal on the tree to finish this long portion of the quest and receive the third Moon Seal. The next Blood Gate is at the very northern tip of the map, right above Everflowing Glade. Use the Moon Seal to start a level 12 combat trial and win it to earn the Purify Word of Power.

Break

The final Word of Power destroys cracked walls and piles of rubble to open new paths. Your next objective is to collect three Moon Seal fragments to restore the fourth Moon Seal. Here's where to look:

  • First Moon Seal fragment: This fragment is set into a rock wall at the mouth of a cave just north of the Garden of Envy.
  • Second Moon Seal fragment: You can actually see this fragment from the mouth of the cave that houses the previous one. It's lodged in a rock high above ground level. It's located northeast of the Garden of Envy.
  • Third Moon Seal fragment: This fragment is wedged into a wall overlooking a small graveyard. It's right next to the Garden of Envy fast travel point, but you'll need to use Open to enter the graveyard.

Once you've collected all three fragments, talk to Agatha at Lilith's Garden, just west of the Garden of Envy. She'll need a special reactive agent to restore the fragments, which can be found at Agatha's Cottage, just north of Everflowing Glade. Return to Agatha in the Abbey's library to repair the seal. You can now take on the level 16 combat trial at the final Blood Gate, north of Lilith's Garden.

This challenge is largely the same as the previous ones, but the new Revenant enemy can't be killed unless you first kill the enemies linked to it. Keep that in mind, and given that you should be at the recommended level, this trial should be over quickly. Once the challenge is complete, you'll be rewarded with the fourth and final Word of Power, Break.
