New World: How to Get Better Gear

As with every MMO, gear is the most important factor determining the competition between players in New World. Many players seeking better gear try to strengthen their characters further to become the best in the game. However, since New World is still a fairly new game, players may want some help with this. The feature called Gear Score is the key to the better gear players want to obtain. Players with a higher Gear Score can get stronger gear from quests and Mobs.

So, what is Gear Score and how do you raise it?

What Is Gear Score in New World?

Gear Score, which shows the level of the gear each character wears, represents the power of every item found in New World. Whether it's armor or a weapon, every item has a Gear Score. However, Gear Score alone isn't what makes an item valuable. It also needs bonuses that suit each character's build.

For example:

• If you have a tank character, an item with a Constitution bonus will be useful for you.
• On the other hand, an item stamped with Intelligence won't be useful even if it has a high Gear Score.

How Do You Raise Gear Score?

Farming

New World's Cap system is a feature built into the game's database to raise your Gear Score. Every item you can drop by farming will have a higher Gear Score as you progress through the game. For example, if you have a sword with 500 Gear Score, farming in Shattered Mountain will drop items with a higher Gear Score for you. However, this rate doesn't jump all at once; instead, it goes from 500 Gear Score to 501 Gear Score and then to higher levels.

Doing Quests

Quests that help you level up faster are also the key to getting items with a higher Gear Score. Quest items, awarded in line with your highest mastery score, can be no small amount of powerful. You can see and obtain high Gear Score items we mentioned in the Side Stories section.

Enter Dungeons!

Dungeons also have a Cap system similar to farming. By entering dungeons suited to your own level, you can obtain high Gear Score items. However, don't forget how dangerous dungeons can be. Don't touch dungeons before reaching Level 60!
