KRAFTON, Inc. is bringing the Erangel Classic map to players today as part of Update 29.2.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Introduces the 'Erangel Classic' Map
Erangel Classic, which will be in the game for only two weeks and is a tribute to earlier versions of the game's first battleground, will bring a wave of nostalgia. To let players experience the classic map in a new way, the original concept and atmosphere of the old Erangel map have been combined with some of the current gameplay mechanics.
To relive the experience of players who first entered Erangel back then, firearm recoil has been reduced by up to 30%. The weapon pool and all other features remain unchanged, and with all armor durability increased by 7.5%, the number of shots needed to take down an enemy has increased by about one. Some nostalgic elements have also been added to Erangel: survivors get the chance to find Level 3 helmets and 17 classic cosmetics scattered across the map, while using a Flare Gun now calls in a bulletproof UAZ instead of a BRDM. Finally, some of the in-game user interface elements, such as the world map, minimap and match start timer, have been returned to their old versions as a tribute to the early days of the game. Erangel Classic will be playable from May 14 to May 28 on PC and from May 23 to June 6 on console platforms.
The Grappling Hook added to Rondo lets players move faster by setting up a rope between any two points. You can now infiltrate previously hard-to-reach places and ambush other players using ropes that can be thrown to a point of your choosing. The Grappling Hook will give players new strategic options in Rondo, reward them for their knowledge of each area, and make every trip to the battlefield unique. A rope set up with the Grappling Hook, available in Normal and Custom Matches, can be used a total of 4 times.
The Win Streak Battle mechanic, which will add new goals and different excitement to every match, is also among the additions with this update. This system lets ready-made teams compete against each other in Normal Matches, and winners are determined by the sum of the kill points and ranking points players earn from the match. In addition to the win streak, which earns players various rewards, those who finish first in a match they leave with a win during Win Streak Battle will also earn the Flawless Battle reward. This system was designed to give players a new achievement besides Chicken Dinner Cash and to let more players win in every match.
Other new features that come with the update include the new map Liana added to Team Deathmatch, the switch from Team Emote to Group Emote, general bug fixes for the Karakin and Vikendi maps, and the new Survivor Pass: Off the Grid.
With the launch of Erangel Classic, a series of exciting tournaments and events also await players. The celebrations will kick off with PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS OG Battle Royale on Twitch Rivals. On Friday, May 17, top PUBG streamers will compete for a share of a $100,000 prize pool while players can receive event-exclusive Twitch Drops.
