To smelt Copper Ore and make Copper Bars in Stardew Valley, you'll first need to build a Furnace. To unlock the Furnace recipe, you'll need to obtain a Copper Ore and wait a day.

On the second day, Clint will visit you on the farm and give you the Furnace recipe during a cutscene. You'll need 5 Copper Ore and 1 Coal to craft the Furnace. You can get both from the Mines.

Once crafted, you can place the Furnace anywhere on your farm. Some players like to use a Shed to house all their Furnaces. However, if you don't mind sacrificing a bit of farmland, you can also place them outside.
