TFT Set 9: All Champions, Traits, and Augments

Riot Games has adjusted the always-available Augments for Teamfight Tactics in Set Nine: Runeterra Reforged. This set includes many new feature Augments tied to new traits and Legends. Augments in TFT were established as a permanent mechanic with the launch of Set Eight, and the design team has expanded on the possibilities with Set Nine. The Runeterra Reforged set includes more Gold Augments compared to Silver and Prismatic Augments, as in past sets. The team has kept only 36 Augments from previous TFT sets. Quality of life improvements have also been made to TFT Set Nine Augments, and players have been given a one-time reroll. This change allows players to reroll up to three times for each Augment Armory, showing a total of six possible Augments for players to choose from. TFT Set 9 Release Date

Teamfight Tactics: Runeterra Reforged is coming to live servers on June 14, 2023. Timing will vary by region but will coincide with the League of Legends patch.

TFT Set 9 All Champions and Traits

Set Mechanic: Region Portals

At the start of every game, 3 different portals will appear on the carousel. Players in the lobby can then move to one of the portals to vote, which can significantly change how the game plays out. The chosen portal will be selected randomly from among the votes, meaning there's no guarantee which portal will be picked even with a majority.

Here are some example portals and what they do:

• Bandle City – Scuttle Puddle: Every PvE round is replaced by Scuttle Crabs, which drop extra loot, gold, and items
• Freljord – Hearth-Home: Earn a consumable during stages 4-5, which, when used on a unit, lets you upgrade one of that unit's items to its Radiant version.
• Void – Unstable Rift: Earn an unstable, completed item that suddenly appears each round and transforms into a random item.
• Shadow Isles – Thresh's Sanctum: Collect the souls of ANY champion when they die. For every 40 souls you collect, earn loot!
• Shurima – Warlord's Bazaar: Turn a later PvE round into a treasure armory full of loot
• Ionia – God Willow's Grove: Creates a grove on your bench; champions placed in this grove contribute to your traits as if they were on your board.
• Piltover – Jayce's Workshop: All augments in this game will be Prismatic
• Noxus – Noxkraya: Every time you take an Augment, a random arena hex appears. Units on an arena hex earn an item they can use.
• Targon – Targon's Blessing: Receive a Targon's Blessing at 40% health

Adjusting Traits

As always, Runeterra Reforged will arrive with its own traits. These will be attributed to units so players can build the best possible army with the synergies offered to them. These traits will reflect many regions of Runeterra and try to bring their fantasies to the forefront.

Here's what we know about each trait so far:

Noxus

Every Noxus unit gains bonus stats as you defeat other players in the lobby. Some of the units in this trait look like this:

• Cassiopeia
• Katarina
• Samira
• Swain
• Darius
• Sion

Piltover

Piltover will provide a payment system similar to Underground and Mercenaries, giving players an invention and some tools.

Shurima

Shurima will let players build their own Sun Disc and upgrade their units to earn large stat bonuses. The Sun Disc can interact with certain buffs, for example allowing it to deal damage to enemy units. Some of the units in this trait look like this:

• Akshan
• Nasus
• K'Sante
• Renekton

Yordle

Yordle looks like Set 9's recurring composition, earning stacking bonuses for each star level and also able to reach 4 stars. At 4 stars, the Yordle's abilities are elevated to a completely new level. Some of the units in this trait look like this:

• Kled
• Tristana

Void

Void can summon allies from the Void, including Void Remorah, Rift Herald, and even Baron Nashor. Some of the units in this trait look like this:

• Cho'Gath
• Vel'Koz
• Kassadin
• Malzahar
• Kai'Sa

Other Units

These units weren't shown in the Runeterra Reforged reveal, and don't yet have a trait attributed to them. They are:

• Teemo
• Zeri
• Jhin
• Karma
• Sona

New TFT Mechanic: Legends

We also took a close look at TFT Set 9's adorable Little Legends!

Legends are a trait similar to runes in League of Legends. They let you pick a specific character that guarantees you'll see certain upgrades in your next game. These characters are meant to represent specific playstyles and let players shape their own destiny with the Legend they pick before the match starts. These Legends can be selected in the lobby along with your board, boom, and Little Legend.

Here are some example Legends and the upgrades they offer:

Tahm Kench – Collect as much gold as you can!

• The Rich Get Richer
• Money Boosts

Ornn – Gain the power of Ornn's Creations!

• Portable Forge
• Living Forge
• Artifact-related upgrades

URF – If you're a player who loves Emblems, pick Urf!

• Provides players with Emblem upgrades, including Ancient Archives

Lee Sin – For the player who loves rerolling and 3-Star units!

• On a Roll
• Trade Sector
• High-End Sector

Ezreal – For the player who loves lots of items and item components!

• Build a Collection
• Well-Earned Comforts
• Big Bag to Hold

Caitlyn – Get strong units early in the game!

• Rolling for Days

Veigar – Your units will gain tremendous power!

• Small Jeweled Lotus
• Jeweled Lotus
• Large Jeweled Lotus
• Little Power I, II, III

Vladimir – Your team will gain a whole lot of HP!

• Augments that trade health for power

Draven – The more units you kill, the more gold you earn!

Ozan – Gain even more Power when you level up!

Master Yi – Your team deals more damage while taking less!

Aurelion Sol – Go High-End and play great units!

Twisted Fate – For the player who loves Pandora's Box!

Pengu – Your Tactician will be Bigger, Faster, and Healthier!

Players will also be offered one free reroll for each Augment stage, letting them try to improve their odds on later Augments.

Augments

Riot also wants to refresh the Augment system with Set 9. According to the Runeterra Reforged reveal, Riot has refreshed a total of 90% of its general Augments. Trait-tied buffs will return in Set 9, with hero buffs removed.

Quality of Life Changes

Champion Review Tool

Now, all units will have a different review window you can interact with. This window will contain various information about the unit, including recommended items, what type of damage they deal, stats, spell information, and attack ranges.

You can now also review units on the carousel.

Trait Tracker Improvement

Players can now interact with units inside trait tooltips to learn more about them. You can also view the trait's Emblem and Emblem recipe inside the trait window.

New Cosmetics

A new set wouldn't be complete without a range of new cosmetics for players to personalize their experience. Riot has revealed a few of the cosmetics coming with Set 9, including new Little Legends and arenas. These are:

Little Legends

• Chibi Teemo
• Chibi Devil Teemo (Legendary Variant)
• Health Potion River Sprite
• Adventurer or Explorer River Sprite
• Raptors
• Poros

Arenas

• Showdown Arena (Noxus arena)
• Temple of the First Lands (a Mythic Ionia arena that rains swords from the sky, which can stack up and show how many rounds you've won)
