TikTok Clear Mode: What It Is and How to Use It

When it comes to features, TikTok is best known for all the fun content you can add to a video you create for the short-form video sharing platform. But what about the app's video viewing features? These may be less well known (or less noticeable) to you, since they're part of a more passive way of experiencing TikTok. But as easy as the video viewing features are to overlook, there's a new TikTok feature worth knowing about. It's called "Clear Mode". So what is TikTok Clear Mode? How do you use it? What Is TikTok Clear Mode?

Normally when you watch a TikTok video, the video plays, but the playback screen is also cluttered with a range of TikTok's usual app icons and other elements like hashtags and captions. All this clutter can get in the way of watching a TikTok video more completely. Clear Mode is a relatively new feature on TikTok that lets users temporarily remove this visual clutter for a smoother, less cluttered viewing experience. (However, Clear Mode doesn't remove all of TikTok's normal icons when enabled, just most of them.)

It's also worth noting that Clear Mode only stays active for the video you're currently watching. When you swipe to the next video, you'll need to turn it on again.

How Do You Use TikTok Clear Mode?

Turning on Clear Mode is actually quite easy. Here's how to do it:

The instructions below should work for both Android and iOS users.

• Long-press a TikTok video you're watching.
• A menu should appear. From this menu, select the Clear Mode option.

That's it! If you want to exit Clear Mode, just tap the dark circle icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. This icon should look like a dark-colored circle with a rectangle and a small x inside it. You can also long-press the video again and select the Exit option once the menu appears.
