2XKO Illaoi Abilities and How to Play Her (April 2024)

Riot Games has introduced Illaoi as the first champion to get a gameplay trailer for its upcoming fighting game 2XKO. Illaoi is one of the many champions announced for 2XKO, including Yasuo, Ekko, Darius and Ahri. Like her League of Legends character, Illaoi appears as a hard-hitting tank who uses the tentacles she creates to her advantage. Let's look at what Illaoi's abilities in 2XKO are and how to play her.

What Are Illaoi's Abilities in 2XKO?

S.2 Specials: Just like in League of Legends, Illaoi can use any S.2 Special to create a tentacle on the map. Forward Assist is the same as the S.2 Special and can be used to control mid-range fights.

S.1 Specials: As long as the opponent is within the tentacle's "Splash Zone," Illaoi can use any of her S.1 Specials to trigger her tentacles for a follow-up attack. If they are not in range, Illaoi can use certain moves to teleport the nearest tentacles to the enemy before making an attack.

Wrath of Nagakabouros: Illaoi's S.2 Super summons giant tentacles that slam the ground around her opponent. Tentacles already in play will get the same treatment. However, if Illaoi or her Duo gets hit at any point while the S.2 Super is active, the tentacles will disappear.

Crashing Waves: Illaoi's S.1 Super lets her lift her opponent and launch them into the air, slamming them into the ground twice. If a tentacle is already up during the Super, holding S.1 will reposition it.

Test of Spirit: Illaoi's ultimate ability, which sends her opponent's spirit to the depths where they will meet Nagakabouros. Test of Spirit is a mid-range move with a fast startup, which makes it perfect for finishing combos. It is also invincible at the start, so it is hard to counter in the heat of the moment.

How Do You Play Illaoi in 2XKO?

Tentacle attacks reward players who deal damage and keep moving. These tentacles are also easy to destroy, since a single hit from the opponent makes them disappear.

Even when Illaoi is knocked out or off-screen, she can still be a threatening force. Illaoi's tentacles stay around to give her teammate additional support.

Even when knocked out, Illaoi can activate her ultimate using Last Stand and defeat the spirit of whoever is currently fighting her.

There is no set release date for 2XKO, but Riot Games will showcase the game at this year's EVO Japan. Attendees will have the chance to play Illaoi and the other characters for the first time.

Riot also announced that a home-based playtest for 2XKO will be released later this year, letting fans who can't attend EVO Japan fully test Illaoi.
