Ahead of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's launch on PlayStation 5 next month, two of the industry's biggest names are joining forces for the Apex Legends X Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Event in Electronic Arts' thrilling competitive FPS, Apex Legends. Starting January 9, players will be able to get their hands on a range of new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth-inspired cosmetics in Apex Legends, including the Buster Sword R2R5 and Materia Hop-Ups, as well as new Legendary and Epic items. For the three-week duration of the event, the Final Fantasy Takeover mode will replace Apex Legends' Unranked Battle Royale mode. In this exciting new mode, players will be able to attack with the Buster Sword R2R5, block bullets, unleash a powerful Limit Break, and pull off many other moves with the blade's superior power. Materia Hop-Ups, which grant abilities like an area-of-effect (AOE) lightning attack and health-stealing, and even summon a SOLDIER Nessie to fight alongside players, will occasionally appear on the battlefield to give players different advantages.
Players won't just get to adopt gameplay inspired by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth — they'll also get to step into the game's roles. Outlands is getting a fresh breath of life with a Moogle-inspired look for Wattson, plus iconic outfits for Wraith, Crypto and more. These outfits and looks can be purchased with Apex Coins and are part of a lineup of 36 different FF VII Rebirth-themed cosmetics that will only be available for a limited time.
