Apex Legends Season 15: Release Date, New Map, and Everything We Know

Apex Legends Season 15 is fast approaching as Season 14's final month begins to wind down. Season 15 will likely be the last season of Apex Legends Year 4, meaning -if tradition holds- developer Respawn will add a new playable legend, a battle pass, and a story-driven Quest in the upcoming season, along with a new battle royale map. . The potential for a fifth battle royale map raises a few questions about how Respawn will handle map rotations going forward. As of now, only one battle royale map sits out of Apex Legends' rotation each season, leaving three maps in each rotation. If a fifth map is added, will the seasonal rotation expand to four maps, or will Apex Legends start leaving two maps out of rotation each split? We'll have to wait and see. Below, we cover everything we know so far about Apex Legends Season 15, including when the new season starts, who the new legend is, and where the new legend is from.

When Does Apex Legends Season 15 Start?

Respawn hasn't officially confirmed a start date for Apex Legends Season 15, but we can look at the patterns from recent seasons to make an educated guess. New Apex Legends seasons typically start the day the previous season ends. In this case, Season 14 ends on November 1, so it makes sense for Season 15 to start on November 1.

What Map Is Being Added In Apex Legends Season 15?

During the massive Apex Legends leak in Season 12 that revealed Newcastle, Vantage's legacy, and a number of cosmetic items that turned out to be accurate, we also saw things like a new battle royale map under a codename. Season 15's new map will likely be "Divided Moon."

That moon is most likely Cleo, the shattered satellite of Seer's home planet Boreas. A meteor struck Cleo the day Seer was born, destroying most of the moon. For the past 26 years, fragments of Cleo have repeatedly bombarded Boreas, and the partially destroyed moon has caused major disturbances in the planet's ocean tides along with extreme temperature swings at the poles and equator. Boreas is projected to become completely uninhabitable within 50-70 years.

On top of all that, Seer's inability to fix any of it was broadcast across Syndicate space at the end of Season 13 thanks to reporter Lisa Stone, who put the legend in the hot seat with questions about Boreas' ongoing decay. Seer spent part of his Season 14 Quest trying to correct this misunderstanding and help his home planet, eventually finding the inspiration to move the Apex Games to Boreas to bring money and jobs to the local community.

Who Is The New Legend In Apex Legends Season 15?

Respawn hasn't officially revealed Season 15's new playable legend yet, but we have a pretty good idea of who it might be. Going back to the previously mentioned leak that included early looks at Divided Moon, we can see several characters in various stages of completion. Newcastle was practically finished, and Vantage wasn't far off from her final design either, which makes sense since they'd go on to release in Seasons 13 and 14 respectively.

Since the remaining seven leaked legends were all unfinished, it gets a bit trickier from there. However, two stand out as slightly more finished than the others: Catalyst and Uplink. In the leak, neither has a character model like we saw for Newcastle and Vantage, but both have at least some of their abilities in the game in some form.

It's worth noting that this leak is now nearly seven months old, so even though most of it has proven accurate, that doesn't mean all of it still holds. Respawn could have scrapped Catalyst months ago or taken the character in a completely different direction. That said, if nothing has changed, we can expect Catalyst to be a legend who uses ferrofluid (that strange spiky-looking black liquid you can shape with magnets) to reach certain places more easily.

According to the March leak, Catalyst's abilities are:

• Passive: Barricade - Standing near your ferrofluid structures, doors, and other legends will reinforce their integrity and let them take significantly more damage.
• Tactical: Piercing Spikes - On impact, the shot creates a hardened ferrofluid ramp that can be extended with more shots. It can also be used to create platforms on walls.
• Ultimate: Dark Veil - Ferrofluid rises from below and forms a tall, sturdy pillar beneath you as it pushes you upward.
