We've put together the best PC strategy games to play in 2021 for you, weighing everything from gameplay to story.
Empire of Sin
Expected to release in December 2020, Empire of Sin is set in the ruthless underworld of Prohibition-era 1920s Chicago. Our goal is to build a crime empire. Controlling a Mafia family, we decide who wins the strategy and power struggles in a game set in 1920s Chicago. You can check out the trailer above, which also includes gameplay footage released for Empire of Sin.
Humankind
Expected to release in 2021, Amplitude Studios' new game "Humankind" is about the growth and development of human civilization. A turn-based 4X title, Humankind will let us mix and match from 60 cultures to create a new one of our own, according to the developers. While it shares similarities with the Civilization series, the winner will be decided not just by tactical battles but also by fame and economic power. It's one of the strategy games our team is most looking forward to.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, the upgraded successor to the through-and-through strategy game Mount & Blade, was released to players in 2020. Compared to the previous game, the entirely new kingdoms caught players' attention. Some of these kingdoms include Battania, the Khuzait Khanate, Sturgia, Vlandia, and Aserai. A new game means new features—so what does Mount & Blade II bring us? Players can now customize their castles, trade, start a family, and persuade rivals, among many other social features, and it's fair to say these have given the game a whole new spirit.
Skull & Bones
Designed by Ubisoft and expected to release to players in 2021, Skull & Bones is an open-world pirate combat/strategy game that gives players a shot at becoming the pirate king of the seas. Your piracy journey, starting with the ship you choose at the outset, will develop both your seafaring and combat skills, and test whether you can build strong alliances to become the most powerful crew on the seas. This game, which we're eagerly awaiting, is expected to release in March 2021.
Warcraft III: Reforged
Warcraft III: Reforged, announced in 2018, is a remastered version of the Warcraft III we played and loved years ago. Released to players in 2020, Warcraft III: Reforged looks set to satisfy fans of WoW and strategy games alike.
