What Should We Expect From the New COD MW3 Story?

The new story of Modern Warfare 3 will focus on Task Force 141 trying to stop Makarov before it is too late, because the story of Modern Warfare 2 hinted at the approach of Vladimir Makarov, the main enemy of the original trilogy.

At the end of Modern Warfare 2's final scene, Kate Laswell and Task Force 141 members are having a drink at a bar after a successful operation, and Laswell talks about a new danger approaching. Captain Price and the Task Force 141 team say that this threat is not new and that it is Vladimir Makarov.

A cutscene then shows Makarov's mercenaries trying to hijack a Russian plane. Makarov's short message reading "No Russian" may be the most interesting element of the event. "No Russian," one of the most controversial missions in Modern Warfare 2 (in its first release) and in gaming history, will be immediately understood by anyone who played that version of the game.

The New COD MW3 Story Gives Us More Freedom!

According to a recently published COD blog post, Modern Warfare 3's story mode also adds "Open Combat Missions," which give players great flexibility throughout the game's story. For example, will you enter a mission by fighting with unsuppressed weapons, or will you advance from the shadows using stealth with suppressed weapons; will you prefer to advance through the darkness by shooting out the lights, or will you look for the button to turn the lights off? For the first time, the game leaves it to us rather than Captain Price to decide how the operation takes shape. Although it is not very clear, we assume some story points, such as the deaths of some main characters, will always happen, since it is a Call of Duty game after all; we hope that this time the Ghost and Soap duo manage to survive.
