How much do you know about CS 2, released in March 2023 and coming as the CS:GO update? If you asked yourself this question and realized you do not know, do not worry at all. We have a video for you. You can learn about the game by watching the video right below!
What Is Follow Recoil in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)?
In short, the new Follow Recoil setting can be described as your crosshair following the spot where your bullet lands while you spray your weapon. In an FPS game, recoil is your bullets travelling away from where you are aiming along a certain trajectory when you hold down the fire button. This is because it simulates real-world firearms, since the recoil from a gun makes your aim drift away from the intended target.
Most tactical FPS games such as CS and VALORANT work around this mechanic. However, CS is the most punishing because its recoil is much harsher. In CS, being able to control your recoil, also called spray control, is a skill necessary to be good at the game. In professional play, you can see players dragging their crosshair slightly down and slightly side to side. This is a method used to compensate for recoil. In CS2, your crosshair can now follow the exact position of your weapon's recoil, which will make spraying much more accurate.
How Does Follow Recoil Work in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)?
After you enable the “Follow Recoil” setting, your crosshair may look different on your screen, but there is a way to get better at it:
Pick a target in front of you and try to hit it. You will see that only your first two bullets hit. Your goal should be to compensate for the recoil so that all of your bullets actually hit the target. You will be able to do this by dragging your mouse down.
The Follow Recoil option is a great visual aid that will help you master your spray control. As it is now, your goal while spraying is to keep your crosshair on the target at all times, so never forget that.
It is not very different from the famous Recoil Master workshop map that helps you train your spray pattern. As on that map, it has you follow a point that counters the recoil. And with the Follow Recoil option, you will have an inverted version of it, in which you need to keep your crosshair indicator in the center. This option will make spraying and practicing it in CS much easier.
If you have access to the CS2 beta, you will be able to easily improve your aim with this setting alone. It will be enough to enable it in the crosshair section of the settings and start spraying.
