FIFA 23's AcceleRATE system assigns players one of three archetypes, Controlled, Explosive, or Lengthy, based on their Height, Agility, and Strength.
- FIFA 23's AcceleRATE is a next-gen-only system designed to distinguish players' running styles based on their attributes.
- AcceleRATE splits players into three categories: Controlled, Explosive, and Lengthy.
- The system is calculated from a player's Height, Agility, and Strength, with Acceleration and Sprint Speed determining overall pace.
FIFA 23 is something we're slowly getting used to. Many new features about the game keep getting announced. AcceleRATE, a new feature coming with FIFA 23, refers to a system designed to show different types of movement for different players. Let's take a closer look at this system.
What Is FIFA 23 AcceleRATE?
First, let's note that following a change in how AcceleRATE archetypes are calculated, EA announced via its official Twitter account that an update covering this had been made to the Notes From the Pitch. The Acceleration status required to earn the Explosive and Lengthy archetypes was raised, and changes were also made to the Strength - Agility calculation. AcceleRATE is a new feature that's only coming to FIFA 23 on next-gen consoles. For players specifically, we can say it's a feature designed to distinguish between different running styles. It's split into three separate categories on its own. While it delivers a realistic gameplay experience, it also brings player personalities on the pitch to the forefront.
FIFA 23 AcceleRATE Changes: Notes From the Pitch
Acceleration Types
- Controlled: Most players in FIFA 23 fall into the Controlled type, as they accelerate steadily in a controlled manner.
- Explosive: These are shorter, more agile players who can cover short distances quickly and get ahead of their opponents, even if it means slowing down after the initial burst of acceleration.
- These players are faster off the mark, but their acceleration rate slows down.
- Lengthy: These players start off slower but excel over longer distances. Players in the Explosive category can perform better over short distances and in one-on-one situations.
AcceleRATE is automatically assigned to players based on a combination of their Height, Agility, and Strength attributes. Acceleration and Sprint Speed remain the main factors in determining how fast a player is overall.
AcceleRATE categories are assigned as follows:
Explosive
-
- Agility >= 65
- (Agility - Strength) >= 15
- Acceleration >= 74
- Height <= 180 cm (~ 5'11”)
- Example player: Vinicius Jr.
Lengthy
-
- Strength >= 65
- (Strength - Agility) >= 14
- Acceleration >= 55
- Height >= 174 cm (~ 5'9”)
- Example player: Virgil van Dijk
Controlled
- Any player who doesn't meet the other two requirements above.
- Example player: Son Heung-min
