How Do You Set Up a Testimonial Match in FM 23?

To set up a testimonial match in FM 23, a few criteria need to be met first. First, your player needs to be of advanced age and near the end of his career. It's also important that your player has announced his retirement date and is in the final weeks of his career.

Once the criteria are met, you can move to the fixtures page to set up the testimonial match. Pick a day with no scheduled match on the fixture calendar and make sure your team is available to play that day. You'll also need to make sure the player you're honoring has no issues like an injury. Now you're ready!

When you get to the step for setting up a friendly, use the "arrange friendly" option. You'll need to set the match type to "testimonial" or "honor the player." These options will reflect the purpose of the testimonial match and give special meaning to your player's farewell.

The process for setting up a testimonial match is the same as in previous versions like FM 2020, FM 21, and FM 22. The information in this article will apply to all FM titles.

Finally, look forward to the day the testimonial match arrives, and send out the player you're honoring. This special match is a chance to honor a player who has served your club for years and is now stepping into retirement. That said, you don't need to arrange a testimonial for every player — we recommend only doing it for players who are truly identified with your club and share a special bond with it.

What Is an FM 23 Testimonial Match and How Do You Hold One?

A testimonial is a special match, usually in football, basketball, and sometimes boxing, in which an athlete nearing the end of their career takes part as a farewell. A testimonial match usually takes the form of a friendly, and its purpose is to honor the player being celebrated. This exhibition match creates emotional moments for both the player and the fans who love him.

While testimonial matches aren't as common today as they used to be, some clubs still hold rare testimonial matches for their legendary players. The only name that recently comes to mind is Emre Belözoğlu — unfortunately, aside from him, respect for testimonials and honoring former players has faded somewhat in our country. These kinds of testimonial matches offer an emotional experience for both players and fans.
