When Does LoL Preseason 2024 Start?

The League of Legends 2024 Preseason starts on November 20, 2023, on the Public Beta Environment (PBE). It will go live on the live servers on January 3, 2024.

Riot Games decided to start the 2024 Preseason later this year to give players more time to test and learn the new gameplay changes before they go live.

What's New in LoL Preseason 2024?

Ranked System Changes: 3-Split Ranked Structure

To improve the ranking experience and speed up the ranked climb, Riot Games plans to introduce a three-split ranked structure in 2024. Starting with Season 14, ranks will reset three times a year. With three ranked resets a year, players will get more opportunities to climb the ranks and earn ranked rewards.

Item System Changes: Removal of Mythic Items

Riot Games admitted that the Mythic item system is not heading in the direction they want for LoL. The game's current state could benefit greatly from this item overhaul and could potentially bring back the much-needed build variety to the game.

Terrain Reworks and Changes to Map Objectives

Riot developers also plan to make major changes to the terrain of Summoner's Rift in the 2024 Preseason. These are known to revolve around reviving and improving the gameplay experience:

• Removal of the Baron pit
• A wider river
