When is LoL's Swarm mode coming? Which champions are in it?
The Anima Squad universe returns as League of Legends' 2024 summer event, bringing a brand new PvE game mode called Swarm with it. In this mode, champions appear as adorable, super-powered fighters standing together against the civilization-ending invasion of the bottomless Primordians. When is LoL's Swarm mode coming? Which champions are in it? Let's take a closer look.
Which Champions Are in Swarm Mode?
Swarm mode includes the following champions:
- Jinx
- Seraphine
- Leona
- Xayah
- Illaoi
- Yasuo
- Briar
- Yuumi
The mode also features 3 towers, each of which can grant a different reward:
- Miss Fortune Spire: Simply approach and activate this Spire for a temporary reward, like an unstoppable car you can use to plow through your opponents. It can also grant buffs such as a brief attack speed boost.
- Yuumi Spire: Activating the Yuumi Spire requires the whole team to be present to trigger tasks like kicking a soccer ball into a goal or smashing scattered vases.
- Bel'Veth Spire: Risky but rewarding, only one player is needed to activate these Spires. However, unleashing Bel'Veth's power can be dangerous. Success grants a hefty amount of XP and gold for upgrades outside the run.
When Is LoL's Swarm Mode Coming?
Swarm, LoL's newest PvE mode, will be added to live servers on July 17, 2024. The release of League of Legends' newest solo-laning champion, Aurora, could also land right around this time. We'll wait and see!
What Is LoL's Swarm Mode?
This game mode is a deeply replayable, cooperative bullet-hell PvE mode that drops you and your friends into the living world of Anima Squad.
Similar to other bullet-hell games, players control a champion with an auto-firing weapon and maneuver across the battlefield to take down enemy hordes. As players progress through levels and inevitably die, they'll discover new buffs and weapons they can use on future runs.
The core gameplay loop revolves around running around, killing monsters, finding items scattered across the map, powering yourself up, unlocking permanent upgrades, and strategically spending your money on buffs.
In Swarm mode, you'll earn rewards like emotes and titles usable across different game modes.
Swarm's early game makes it easy to get started by focusing on eliminating weaker enemies and collecting experience orbs. Once you've gathered enough orbs, you'll be given options to level up and significantly boost your power.
The main client will feature an Anima Squad hub where players can queue up in a pre-made party of up to four. Before queuing, players will choose their champion and map preference from among those they've unlocked. Completing all maps in Story Mode will unlock higher difficulty levels and more content.
