When Does the Smash Bros Ultimate "Grand Slam" Tournament Start?
Nintendo announced a new tournament for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, starting on Friday, February 19 and running for 3 days. The event, called the "Grand Slam" tournament, will feature characters who use only their bodies for their special attacks.
The "Ballistic Barrage" event held earlier in February has come to an end. In that event, only characters who use projectiles were allowed. Saying that once weapons come out, fair play goes out the window, Nintendo flipped the script for the new tournament. Only characters focused on melee combat will be allowed in the Grand Slam tournament.
What Rewards Await Players in the Grand Slam Tournament?
Players who win in the event starting on February 19 will be able to earn Spirits usable on the Spirit Board. Don't just take our word for it — the official event page states, "The further you get, the better spirits you'll earn."
Which Characters Are Coming After the Grand Slam Tournament?
Another piece of good news from the Nintendo Direct is the 2 new characters coming to Super Smash Ultimate. Coming from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, these characters will take their place in Super Smash Ultimate with their own unique traits, just like the other DLC characters.
