  • Play your first Turf War match and reach level 2.
  • Go to the lobby terminal and create your Splashtag.
  • In your console's Friend Settings, make sure your presence is set to All Friends.
  • To play with friends who are playing Splatoon 3, find their names in the lobby menu or find their character avatars in the lobby.

How Do You Create a Room With Friends?

The previous method works very similarly to Splatoon 2, where the main problem is that it does not guarantee you will be on the same team as your friends. The best thing about Splatoon 3 is that they have eased this problem with rooms.

  • Open the lobby menu and go to the Friends tab.
  • Press Y to create a room and set a password if you want.
  • Your friends can start joining right away, or you can send notifications by interacting with your friends in the friends list or with their avatars in the lobby.

How Do You Play Private Battles With Friends?

Even though you will not earn any rewards as in a normal match, if you have a group of two or more people and just want to battle in a private match, Splatoon 3 offers a mode for that.

  • Create a room by following the same steps listed above.
  • Get at least two people (including yourself) into the room, up to a maximum of 10 people.
  • Select Private Battle from the mode list.
  • Choose the map, the mode and which players will be on which teams.
