Biggest Game Announcements From the State of Play 2024 Event: Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

The sequel to Death Stranding, developed by Kojima Productions, is set to arrive for gamers later this year in 2025 under the name Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In the extensive new trailer, we get a look at Sam and Fragile's continuing adventures alongside many new characters, including one played by Mad Max director George Miller and a small puppet played by Head-On director Fatih Akın.

Kojima announced that his team, working in collaboration with Sony, is making a brand-new "next-generation action-espionage game" called PHYSINT that will break down the barriers between games and films. Good News for Sonic Fans: Sonic X Shadow Generations

Sega is bringing back Sonic Generations, the 2011 Sonic the Hedgehog game that combined 2D and 3D platforming action. Sonic X Shadow Generations is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this fall.

Staller Blade

Stellar Blade, originally known and announced as Project Eve and one of the first announced PS5 projects, was given an in-depth look at State of Play. It was expected to release in 2023 but never quite made it out :) The new date set for Stellar Blade is April 26.

Metro: Awakening

Developed by Deep Silver and Vertigo Games as a sequel to 2019's Metro: Exodus, this game brings the post-apocalyptic series to virtual reality. Metro: Awakening will release later this year and take players back to Russia on PlayStation VR 2.

Until Dawn Remastered

Supermassive Games' narrative horror game Until Dawn announced its return later this year in a remastered form for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC, courtesy of studio Ballistic Moon. The remastered version of the game will feature a star-studded cast made up of Hayden Panettiere, Rami Malek, Peter Stormare, and Larry Fessenden.
