10. M16

The M16 was recently buffed. Its upward vertical recoil pattern makes every burst quite inefficient, and the burst mechanism itself keeps you from having a good TTK even when you are firing within the burst.

9. Kastov-545

The Kastov 545 had very weak damage numbers, but it was buffed in Season 1. With the right build it has almost no recoil and enough damage output.

8. M4

The Chimera is the new AR in Warzone 2 and MW2. This weapon has a perfect balance to be your flexible sniper-support-style weapon. It has the increased range potential of an AR with the handling and mobility of an SMG. We can strongly recommend this weapon alongside an RPK or a RAAL.

3. Lachmann-556

Although the Lachmann-556 is slow, it can be quite good at mid and long range because it has the lowest recoil of all ARs and the best damage at range. This makes it the ideal weapon to run alongside an SMG.

The Kastov is a solid, versatile weapon with big damage at all distances and somewhat manageable recoil.

1. TAQ-56

The TAQ is not the best close-range option and not the best long-range option either, but unlike almost all other ARs, it can be effective at all distances. With low recoil, good damage values at all ranges and decent handling speeds, the TAQ-56 comes across as the closest thing to a true "do-it-all" assault rifle right now.
