CoD Warzone Season 3 New Map Leaks Explained

While Call of Duty: Warzone players are wondering about the features of the new map coming in Season 3, the expected leaks have arrived. You can find details below about a new battle royale map, its expected release date and how it will tie in with Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty Warzone: Ural Mountains Map

The current maps in the new mode from Call of Duty developer Treyarch are Alpine, Ruka and Sanatorium. All of these maps are set in Russia's Ural Mountains. Ruka has the code name 'wz_forest' in the game's files, while Alpine has the code name 'wz_ski_slopes' and Sanatorium has the code name 'wz_sanatorium'.

As a 40-player game mode, the maps in FTDB are larger than a standard 6v6 map. Rumors suggest that they'll fit together as different POIs on a larger battle royale map, with Sanatorium in the southwest, Alpine in the southeast, and Ruka in the center.

The most significant rumor about a future Warzone map is that this new map will be heavily influenced by Black Ops Cold War's Fireteam: Dirty Bomb maps. Fireteam already uses many of Warzone's mechanics in-game, such as parachuting in, dropping down and climbing up, pings, armor and loot. Fireteam maps feature vehicles such as T-72 Tanks, Dirt Bikes, Buggies, Snowmobiles and Helicopters, some of which are also found in Warzone. In addition to these similarities, the leaks also indicate that boats will be able to travel on water.

Finally, there are suggestions that some historic CoD maps could be used as POIs. For example, Summit and WMD are both set in the Ural Mountains. In fact, the weapons of mass destruction are located on Yamantau Mountain. Some fans have interpreted this as a sign that WMD could be making a comeback in the future.

Call of Duty: Warzone — A New Verdansk Map?

Rather than being an entirely new map, the upcoming map could be a reimagining of the next Verdansk. While this version of Verdansk, which takes players back to the 1980s, has different features, it largely keeps the same layout. According to the leaks, the new Verdansk map includes changes to various locations such as the stadium, the airport and the dam. The stadium is under construction in the 1980s version of Verdansk, while the airport features new Cold War-themed aircraft and other objects. The dam, meanwhile, appears as a bridge currently connecting parts of Verdansk. Right now, we don't know whether all of this will mean the current version of Verdansk gets completely replaced, or whether the same version will simply be presented in a different way.

Call of Duty: Warzone Zombie Mode and New Map 2021

The leaks suggest that zombies will return to Warzone. The undead will gradually spread across Verdansk, and the map will be nuked to put an end to it. This nuclear bomb appears set to completely destroy Verdansk, and many believe it will pave the way to the new Ural Mountains map. Zombies are expected to spread across all of Verdansk's regions in April 2021.
