The team list for the IEM Rio Major, the first Valve-sponsored CS:GO event held in Brazil, was finalized on October 9 after the completion of the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments. The Europe RMR (A and B tournaments), Americas RMR, and Asia RMR tournaments all wrapped up in recent days. These events saw six teams from the Americas and two from Asia qualify for the IEM Rio Major, alongside 16 teams from Europe. Both the Europe and Americas RMRs were decided through a Swiss-system stage, while the four Asian teams faced off in a double-elimination bracket. IEM Rio Major is set to be the second-largest CS:GO Major ever in terms of prize pool ($1.25 million), and not just the playoffs but every stage of the tournament will have a live crowd following the action. It will be the fan festival run by the most famous Brazilian CS:GO caster, Alexandre "Gaules" Borba.
