FIFA Announces Rocket League Tournament! What's the Format?

FIFAe has partnered with Rocket League, announcing it will integrate national team competition into one of the most popular esports titles. According to FIFA's official statement, an international Rocket League tournament featuring national teams will be held.

FIFA Announces Rocket League Tournament Featuring National Teams

"The FIFAe World Cup featuring Rocket League marks a new era for FIFAe and provides a groundbreaking platform for FIFA member associations to compete in one of the most relevant esports titles. This milestone partnership underscores our commitment to growing the football esports ecosystem and continuing to create the biggest stages for all communities to showcase their game."

The partnership allows players to showcase their game with their own countries' colors. This participation represents a wider engagement with the community and takes esports beyond traditional football simulations.

FIFA Director of eFootball and Gaming Christian Volk commented on the matter:

What Will the Tournament Format Be?

Sixteen countries will compete in this exciting new Rocket League competition. Each country will field three players and one substitute. Countries are selected based on the number of representatives each nation has had in previous Rocket League Major tournaments. Participating member federations will have the opportunity to host their own qualifying tournaments to find the best players to represent their countries and fly their flags on the biggest stage: the first-ever FIFAe World Cup to feature Rocket League. Prospective players can register on FIFA's esports platform and select Rocket League on FIFA.GG.
