If you are on any kind of social media, you have probably seen people posting their own custom music festival lineups based on their most-played artists on Spotify. But if you go to the Spotify app, you will not find the festival-making tool everyone is using. While Spotify offers plenty of fun end-of-year features for subscribers, such as the annual Spotify Wrapped playlists, the fantasy festivals come from a free, third-party app called Instafest. Fortunately, anyone with a Spotify account can use it to create a personalized festival lineup. What Is Instafest?

Instafest is a free, third-party website created by developer Anshay Saboo. In an interview with TechCrunch, Saboo said the idea for Instafest came up while he was thinking about Coechella. According to Saboo, "One day I was scrolling through TikTok in bed, I saw people posting videos from Coachella, and I started thinking about how I would build the Coachella lineup if I could pick the artists." Instafest is 100% free to use and accesses your Spotify account using the service's official APIs.

How Do You Make an Instafest Spotify Festival?

As mentioned above, you will need an active Spotify account to use Instafest. If you do not have a Spotify account right now, you can sign up for free. However, since Instafest looks at your listening data, you need to use the streaming app for a while before creating a festival made for you and your favorite artists. It is also worth noting that if you are not a frequent music listener, you may have fewer artists to choose from for Instafest, so you may not get the three-day festival most people post. If that is the case, you may only get a one- or two-day lineup. The steps below can be followed on a smartphone or a computer.

• Go to www.instafest.app and select Log in with Spotify.
• Enter your Spotify login details and then select Log In.
• Review the privacy information that pops up and select Agree.
• View your personalized lineup and customize it by scrolling down and selecting any of the options under the Customize heading. You can change the artists on the list to your top artists of the last four weeks, six weeks or all time based on your listening habits. If you like, you can change the style of the graphic and hide your Spotify username.
• Under the festival graphic, select Save and Share.
• Select Download or Share. If you are using the app on a computer, Download saves the image. When using a smartphone, if you want to save the image to your camera roll, select Share > Save Image. You can then choose how you want to share the graphic, by messaging someone directly or posting it on a social media platform.

Does Instafest Work With Apple Music?

Although Spotify is how most people use Instafest, it is not the only music service the website supports. In addition to Spotify, Instafest also works with Last.fm. And very soon, Saboo confirmed that Apple Music is the next service you can use with Instafest. As of November 2022 you cannot use Instafest with Apple Music, but it looks like you will not have to wait much longer for that to change.
