New World: What Is the Ideal Build for the Thrustmaster?
Overview
Create a balanced build with lots of damage, control and sustain Focused on Open World PvP, but also deals big damage and gives everyone 30% more damage in dungeons Use the bow and spear for both melee and ranged combat
Ability Options - Spear
Zoner Abilities / Zoner Abilitys:
Sweep - deals 75% weapon damage and knocks the target down - the only ability we take from the Zoner tree, and it gives us a reliable knockdown that is very important for this build's main combo
Tenacious Sweep - gives Grit during Sweep - we make Sweep uninterruptible by giving Grit
Zoner Passives / Zoner Passives:
Tier 1: Lethal Reach - tier one gives us 10% crit chance for attacks 3+ meters away - We want as much crit chance as possible; in PvP we do not spam heavy attacks
Tier 2: Renewing Reach - 15% CDR on a successful heavy attack - We get more CDR later Evasive Maneuvers - 20% less chance of being affected after blows - Great for maximizing our evasion potential!
Tier 3: Brutal Might - 25% damage against knocked-down targets - This pairs nicely with our uninterrupted Sweep for some sweet combos Invigorating Crits - 20 stamina regen on crit - This is crazy together with our build, which aims to stack as many crits as possible.
Tier 4: Defensive Stance - 15% damage reduction, but only for a short 2 seconds - It is fine and works well on some heavy attacks
Impaler Abilities / Impaler Abilitys:
Perforate - deals 3 quick hits at 70% weapon damage and applies rend to the target, which increases our damage by 5% (15%) per stack
Rupturing Strikes - doubles the effectiveness of rend stacks if the enemy has 50% or more health left when hit (30%) Impactful Strikes - stagger the target if you land all three hits - we always use Perforate after Sweep, so we should always land all three hits, which will apply a 15% rend weakening and stagger.
Vault Kick - deals 75% weapon damage and stuns your target for 1.5 seconds - this ability is amazing and is used third in our combo to start gaining some distance as we switch to the bow
Relentless Blows - if you hit someone with 50% or less health you gain a 20% damage boost for 5 seconds - more damage overall is nice! Continuous Motion - 30% CDR with Vault Kick - there is not much to say,
Impaler Passives: Tier 1: Refreshing Jabs - 10% CDR on the second hit of a light attack - having more CDR is always good
Tier 2: Finishing Blows - 15% damage against targets with 30% or less health - it is easier to finish the job with a bit of extra damage
Tier 4: Aggressive Maneuvers - 20% CDR on any hit after dodging a roll
Tier 5: Exposed Wounds - 15% crit chance against targets with reduced health - on our bow we get a bleed passive called Keenly Jagged, which lets us apply bleed on crits for 10 seconds.
Tier 6: Exploited Weakness - 10% damage per debuff on the target (Max 30%) - this will most of the time be a full 30% increase and is just a big overall damage boost.
Ability Options - Bow
Hunter Abilities: Penetrating Shot - deals 150% weapon damage and passes through targets up to 100 meters - a quick shot that deals good damage and is easier to land than a normal attack; trying to get past enemies is almost useless
Blood Soaked Arrow - a useless ability, we only want the end point. Deep Strike - 20% MORE damage to targets more than 20 meters away!
Hunter Passives: Tier 1: Long Range - 20% MORE damage to targets more than 10 meters away! Aim True - 30% MORE damage on heavy attacks and faster arrows!
Tier 2: Finishing Shot - 20% MORE damage to enemies below 50% health!
Tier 3: Opening Strike - 20% damage on heavy attacks against enemies at 100% health - INCREASED damage!
Tier 4: Surprise Attack - 20% extra damage if you have not attacked in the last 10 seconds - EXTRA damage!
Tier 5: Bullseye - 10% pure crit chance!
Skirmisher Abilities:
Evade Shot - jump back 5 meters and fire an arrow that deals 125% of your weapon damage
Evasive Knockback - the evade shot knocks the target back 2 meters - now an even better 7 meters of distance! "Optional" Go the Distance - the evade shot gives 15% movement for 5 seconds - this point is optional
Poison Shot - fires an arrow that creates a poison cloud 3 meters wide and applies a poison debuff that deals a total of 200% weapon damage to enemies over 20 seconds - overall, it is a great way to apply more weakness to your target, with synergy with Exploited Weakness, as well as with the great spear ability tree, and a nice way to deal extra chip damage to the enemy.
Infected Arrows - raises poison damage to 220% within 20 seconds If you did not choose "Go the Distance" on the "Optional" Evade Shot - you get Direct Hit - this increases damage on a direct hit and deals 200% more damage with the poison shot.
Skirmisher Passives:
Tier 1: Evasive Tactics - 20% more damage for 5 seconds after an evade shot - this will be handy when maximizing our bonuses on shots! Tier 3: Dodge and Weave - 10% movement speed for 2 seconds after a dodge - great for creating more distance Tier 4: Archer's Speed - 10% movement speed for 5 seconds after switching weapons - this comes in very handy because we always weapon-swap and animation-cancel when we dodge out of rolls anyway Tier 5: Mark - 10% more damage to enemies with 1 active debuff - this will always be on
