While competition in OSM is at full speed, players are looking for the best tactics for their squads and trying to be successful. My friend, using a tactic he set up in a tournament he entered, is continuing his run as league leader and unbeaten. We'll take a look at all the details of the tactic he built and the purpose behind it... Let's see whether it deserves the title of best tactic in the world. :)
What Was OSM's Best Tactic in the World Built For?
(As told first-hand)
The main goal of this tactic is to get maximum output from your squad while conceding as few goals as possible and losing as few matches as possible in a league full of equally strong or stronger teams. The midfield, which forms the backbone of the squad, is where you need to focus most. We can split this zone into a forward three and a deeper two. By choosing the two deeper players (especially as CDM or a deep midfielder) with a "help defense" instruction, we create a strong defensive line. In my own teams, instead of using RW and LW, I set the midfielders I've marked as the forward three as CAM.
The reason for this is to increase my attacking effectiveness by giving the midfielders a hold-position instruction based on the opponent's strength level. My advice for the forward line, based on trial and error over past leagues, is that wide forwards are much more efficient. I haven't fully worked out why yet, but based on past stats I'd recommend playing wide forwards up front. As for the pressing-style-tempo setup, you can also get maximum output by adjusting it according to your opponent's strength as shown in the photos below.

How Is OSM's Best Tactic in the World Applied Against Evenly Matched Teams?
A different pressing, style and tempo is aimed for depending on the opponent. Since we're playing a team of similar or greater strength, we keep pressing low and aim for a defensive style. Tempo, on the other hand, is kept as fast passing so we can suddenly break into attack. With this setup my friend went unbeaten against many opponents and came away with wins in most of the important matches. We'll look at these stats later in the article.

As we mentioned at the start of the article, he's continuing his unbeaten run, and while writing this article he played two more matches and managed to get 1 win and 1 draw out of them. With his closest rivals dropping points, he's very close to the title.
He hasn't lost in 27 matches and has managed to put together 8 winning streaks during that stretch (with a lead double that of his nearest rival).
Even though he's second in goals scored, he's conceded very few, and in football, if you concede few goals, success is bound to follow!
