We are continuing our agent guide series for VALORANT. Today we have prepared a guide dedicated to Neon, VALORANT's 18th agent. This guide focuses on the question of what Neon's tactics are and how to play her, and it aims to introduce the Neon agent fully. Since we will be talking about Neo with plenty of electricity, you may get a little electrified. :) Here is the VALORANT Neon agent guide 2023 version :)

VALORANT agent Neon channeling electricity

VALORANT Neon Tactics 2023! How Do You Play Neon? Neon Guide!

VALORANT Neon: What Are Her Abilities?

As we said before, Neon is all about speed, but she can also manipulate electricity as she likes. Everything depends on her "Charge," which builds up over time, similar to Viper's passive fuel reserves:

  • C Ability – Fast Lane (300 credits): FIRE to send out two lines of energy forward, either a short distance or until they hit a surface. These energy lines rise into walls of static electricity that block vision and damage enemies who pass through them.
  • Q Ability – Relay Bolt (200 credits): INSTANTLY throw an energy bolt. The bolt bounces once. When it hits a surface, it electrifies the ground below with a concussive blast.
  • E Ability – High Gear (Free): INSTANTLY channel your power to speed Neon up. When charged, ALT FIRE to trigger an electric slide. The slide recharges after every two kills.
  • X (Ultimate) Ability – Overdrive (7 Ultimate Points): Unleash all of Neon's power and speed for a short time. FIRE to channel your power into a deadly beam attack that is highly accurate while moving. The cooldown resets with every kill you get.

At first glance, the most useful part of her basic kit is Fast Lane, which, although it costs quite a lot of credits, is great for gaining access to the bomb site or, alternatively, is a quick escape route for you and your allies.

Still, it is her ultimate that really shines. It gives you the chance to blast your opponents with lightning and to leave untouched with her quick dashes and fast slides, and in the right hands it can easily net you a team ace.

How Do You Play Neon in VALORANT?

If you like to zoom into the heart of the action, hit hard and then get out to safety, then Neon is the character for you. But we had never seen anything like her speed in VALORANT before, so it takes a bit of time to get used to.

Jumping into the practice range and testing her E ability and ultimate is a must. Once you get an idea of how fast she goes, you can use them and the accompanying slides to dash past open areas while dodging the gaze of an annoying Jett-playing Operator. Of course, you can also use her to flank, pop heads from behind and run to safety.

One of the many ways to do this is to use the wall escape, where you run straight at a wall Harry Potter-style and use it to launch yourself at your enemies. Bringing a Judge or a Bucky gives you instant burst damage, or using her ultimate lightning practically guarantees a huge number of kills.

Got yourself into a bad spot? Fast Lane is perfect for retreating, because the walls shield you from enemy sight and are too threatening to walk through. Even if someone dares to break through these cobalt walls, you can dash out of the lane and leave the enemies in the middle wondering where in Middle-earth you went. It is also great on offense, as it provides an impassable route onto the site and perfect smokes to set up behind.
