In brief
AI summaryIn this November 2022 guide, VALORANT Duelist Raze has four abilities: Boom Bot (300 credits), Blast Pack (200), Paint Shells (free, recharges on 2 kills) and the Showstopper Ultimate (8 points).
Raze's Blast Pack lets her launch herself into hard-to-reach spots without direct damage to herself, though she can take fall damage if thrown too high.
The Raze guide advises against passive play: use abilities to increase speed and open space for the team, and move together with the Boom Bot so enemies must handle the robot and a player at once.

Every Duelist in Valorant is designed to throw a punch. Instead of scouting enemy positions, setting traps or holding a specific site, Duelists should seek map control and ultimately kills. Using Raze's abilities, you can reach surprising spots on every map and take down enemies instantly. Although everything looks simple on the surface, her ability arsenal has more depth than other Duelist Agents. Here is a detailed breakdown to help you climb to the top of the scoreboard!
VALORANT Raze Guide 2023! How Do You Play Raze? Raze Tactics!

What Are Raze's Abilities in Valorant?
Raze's abilities were designed with an aggressive playstyle in mind. All of her abilities (including her Ultimate) are aimed at clearing areas without even needing a direct line of sight on the opponent. Let's take a quick look at these abilities. The descriptions are taken from the official Riot website.
- C Ability – Boom Bot (300 Credits) — EQUIP a Boom Bot. FIRE to send the bot forward in a straight line, bouncing off walls. The Boom Bot locks on to and chases any enemy that enters the cone-shaped area in front of it. If it catches them, it explodes, dealing heavy damage.
- Q Ability – Blast Pack (200 Credits) — INSTANTLY throw a Blast Pack that sticks to surfaces. RE-USE the ability after deployment to detonate the pack that left your hand. It damages and moves anything it hits. Raze takes no direct damage from this ability, but she can take fall damage if launched too high.
- E Ability – Paint Shells (Free, recharges on 2 kills) — EQUIP a cluster grenade. FIRE to throw it. The damaging grenade creates submunitions, each of which damages everyone in its range.
- X (Ultimate) Ability – Showstopper (8 points) — EQUIP a rocket launcher. FIRE to shoot a rocket that deals massive area damage to anything it touches.
The 'Showstopper' Ultimate is aptly named, because it can shut down all enemy attacks with a single click. Once the explosive is coming toward you, it is nearly impossible to avoid. No matter how much armor you have, it will mean nothing if this six-point Ultimate connects anywhere near your character.
That said, the most overlooked aspect of her kit is the ability to maneuver uniquely on any map with Blast Packs. Although they can be used to deal small amounts of damage to the opponent, they are best used to launch yourself into tricky spots or to gain momentum at particular angles.
How Do You Play Raze?
Just like any other Duelist, Raze will not be very effective if you play too passively. Without vision-blocking abilities or blinding features, Raze should not be the most aggressive flanker on a team. Winning 1v1s can be hard without that kind of kit. Conversely, she also should not sit in the background and let her team advance.
Her abilities should be used largely to increase speed, and new space should open up for your team as you advance. For example, placing a Boom Bot around a corner or in an unknown area can definitely help. But if Raze or another Agent moves together with this explosive drone, you can get much more value out of the ability - enemies will have to deal with both the deadly robot and another player at the same time!
That kind of momentum can make opposing teams struggle. The same logic applies when using Blast Packs. Instead of throwing them for a little damage, Raze can drop them at her feet - or even on nearby walls - and use the explosion to reach new areas. Since you cannot throw these explosives very far, watch how short the throw distance is.
Enemy Agents may be holding a particular angle. Instead of swinging to look, Raze can blow up far beyond the expected fire and catch them off guard. Before they can readjust their aim, Raze may be in the best position to hit them.
That is how Raze is played in simple terms. We have come to the end of today's guide. See you in the next guides..
