How to Play White Out Survival: Expanding Your Civilization

There are several different types of buildings to check on and upgrade. More and more buildings unlock as you progress through the game, but a few of the important ones are described below.

• Furnace: The center of civilization. This is the building that heats an otherwise freezing cold environment. The more it's upgraded, the wider its heating radius becomes, and the stronger its output gets. Upgrading the Furnace is essential in order to expand the other buildings in the city.
• Shelters: These are the homes where survivors rest. It's important to keep these facilities up to date, since survivors will otherwise start complaining. Having more shelters allows for more survivors in the city, which is how you expand your civilization.
• Cookhouse: This is where survivors go to eat their meals. At the end of the day, survivors will work to earn resources for civilization, so keeping them happy when it comes to food is of course important. A higher-level cookhouse feeds more people, and the quality of the food is better too.
• Infirmary: Survivors can sometimes get sick, and the infirmary is where they'll go for medical help. The better the facilities at the infirmary, the higher the recovery rate, meaning sick survivors can recover quickly.

Managing the survivors

Survivors are the small living people living in your civilization. As in all city simulation games, keeping citizens safe and happy is crucial, and Whiteout Survival is no different. There are a few basic needs survivors need to have met:

• Warmth: This generally depends on the Furnace's level and the power it produces to heat civilization. It's possible to set the Furnace to maximum power and enjoy maximum warmth, but this doubles resource consumption. Especially given how temperatures drop at night, it can be a good idea to wait until nighttime before turning on the maximum power setting.
• Fullness: This need depends on how satisfied survivors are with the food at the cookhouse. Increasing the cookhouse's level and facilities can help increase fullness. It's also possible to change what's on the menu by clicking the cookhouse menu. A basic meal is cheap in terms of resources but isn't very filling; a nutritious meal or even a fancy meal can better meet survivors' needs but requires far more resources.
• Sleep quality: This is based on how satisfied survivors are with their rest time. Upgrading shelters and the facilities inside them is the best way to improve survivors' sleep quality. Additionally, turning on the Furnace at maximum power overnight can also help boost sleep quality.
• Comfort: This depends on the quality of the facilities in each shelter and the comfort they provide. Sinks in shelters, for example, are an early example of facilities that increase survivors' comfort. The way to raise the level of this need is simply to upgrade them.
• Mood: Similar to comfort, mood also depends on the quality of certain facilities, like the bookshelf in shelters. Keeping these up to date entertains survivors and therefore improves their mood.

It's important to meet each survivor's needs, otherwise survivors can become unhappy, which will affect their work rates and reduce the city's resource production. If a survivor's health needs drop too low, they can get sick, meaning they're completely out of action and unable to work.

Heroes and Exploration

Exploration in Whiteout Survival sends players' Heroes to fight enemies in idle battles. Recruiting Heroes works through gacha-like mechanics, and while the game offers a few free recruitments each day, this still requires keys. Each hero has a unique look and set of skills, and heroes can be upgraded using resources in a format similar to other mobile games.

In Exploration, players field a squad of 5 heroes and watch the heroes fight another team to be the last ones standing. Each hero has a skill with a cooldown that can also be activated in battle.
