Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 Release Date and Gameplay

A few years ago, Nintendo released a teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild 2, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda series, and that's when rumors started popping up about the sequel to one of the best Zelda games. When Will The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 Come Out?

Breath of the Wild 2 is expected to launch in Spring 2023. The game was previously, announced for a 2022 release during Nintendo's E3 2021 opening presentation. However, as of March 2022, series producer Eiji Aonuma stated that the game had been delayed to 2023. On the matter, he commented: "We were very much looking forward to releasing it this year, so we apologize. As previously revealed, the adventure in this sequel will take place not just on the ground as in the previous game, but also in the skies above. That said, the expanded world goes beyond that, and there will be a much wider variety of features to enjoy, including new encounters and gameplay elements. The entire development team continues to work carefully on this game to make its experience special, so please wait a bit longer."

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 Platforms

Unfortunately, Breath of the Wild 2 will only be available on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo isn't keen on bringing its high-performance first-party games to other consoles, but that could change once Breath of the Wild 2 launches. Whether the game will be available on Steam still remains unclear.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 Gameplay

We think players will return to the Hyrule seen in the original Breath of the Wild. Producer Eiji Aonuma has said he's very eager to revisit the world and introduce a new story along with new gameplay concepts. Following that, he said Breath of the Wild 2 would serve as a continuation of the original game. This pretty much proves that we'll get to see the things we love and hope to see in Hyrule. The story will also expand up into the sky, though whether these locations will be easy to access or take place on a different timeline is not yet known. Judging by the trailers released for the game, we can say it will have a fairly dark atmosphere. In this respect, it's thought that it could resemble The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Producer Aonuma also said the team wanted to make some major changes but couldn't do so using DLC. As time passed and more ideas came up, they realized the only way to turn them into reality was to make a new game. That's how the game we're now talking about came to be. The game's trailer shows Link and Zelda exploring some kind of underground chamber, but Zelda looks quite different from how we remember her, with short hair. A few cave paintings shown in the trailer appear to reference a time before the calamity took place. Traditional dungeons may also make a comeback with this game.
