The current PlayStation Plus, with its monthly free games and online multiplayer access, will remain under a new name: PlayStation Plus Essential. Rocket League
Rocket League practically sells itself, doesn't it? Zoom around in high-powered rocket cars, blasting a giant soccer ball in a stadium: what's not to love? Easy to pick up but devilishly hard to master, Rocket League was released as a free game for subscribers in July 2015, undoubtedly an important part of its continuing huge success.
Life Is Strange
Some of the dialogue can sound like it was written by a geography teacher undercover at the local high school, but Life Is Strange's heartfelt concern has rightly resonated with a whole generation of players. There is a mystery to solve, richly drawn characters and incredibly hard choices along the way. A game you have to play.
Until Dawn
Bloody, brutal and downright creepy, Before Dawn was a superb addition to the PlayStation Plus library in July 2017. Suddenly, players not necessarily into horror began to discover Supermassive's intricately planned thrills, spills and pulse-quickening chases.
Bloodborne
Bloodborne is one of the best video games ever made, and when it came to PlayStation Plus in 2018, I pretty much forced every one of my friends with a PlayStation 4 to download it and check it out. Scary, beautifully designed and extremely challenging.
Rayman Legends
I believe it is one of the biggest, most creative 2D platformers ever made, and it is a great shame that Ubisoft seems to have forgotten the franchise exists. If you downloaded Rayman Legends in 2018 and fell in love with it, we can be friends.
What Remains Of Edith Finch
What Remains Of Edith Finch is one of those games you should play knowing nothing about it. That is what I did when it joined PlayStation Plus in May 2019, and it absolutely amazed me.
