FIFA 21: How to Score Easy Goals

Attacking in FIFA 21 might feel easier than in previous games, but the real reason is that defending is harder than in older games, and the first mistake you make can turn into danger at your own goal.

How to Score Easy Goals in FIFA 21

It would be a lie to say there's one definitive answer for scoring easy goals in FIFA. The tactical setup you play and developing different strategies based on your opponent's play style will play a key role in finding easy goals.

Set Your Formation to Counter Your Opponent

One way to score easy goals is to switch to a style that goes against your opponent's play style. If your opponent is pressing you and you're struggling to build up play from the back, you should move the ball forward quickly into the opposing half. This lets you break your opponent's pressing — done with maybe 4 or 5 players — with just 2-3 passes, gaining the advantage against 5 defenders at the back and finding a goal with the right attacking actions.

Pressing and Scoring in FIFA 21

Playing with a high press up front comes with risks, but with the right interventions and pitch positioning, you can win the ball and have a chance to score after just 1-2 passes once you reach the penalty area. If you're thinking of playing a pressing style of football, you should first make sure your team is suited for it. Try to build your squad around players with high Work Rate and Stamina. The biggest advantage this gives you is that your team won't tire quickly even though you're pressing at a high level, and your players will react more sharply and correctly the moment you give the "team press" command.

What Are the Ways to Score in FIFA 21?

One of the ways to score in FIFA 21 is set pieces. We'll cover this in more detail in a separate article, but to put it briefly, set pieces — which are also highly impactful in real-world football today — are an important scoring weapon in FIFA 21. Using set pieces correctly and getting results from them will typically add a +1 to your tally in high-scoring matches.

Scoring from Free Kicks in FIFA 21

On free kicks, if you don't know how to shoot directly on target, try scoring through a passing move instead. If your opponent thinks you're going to shoot directly and puts a man on the goal line, they'll break the offside trap, and your team will be free to spread out however it likes inside the penalty area. In situations like this, pass to the player you see open, but calculate your second move before you make the pass. Once you've played the pass into the penalty area, you may not have much room left to make another move because of how crowded your opponent's defense is. Before making the pass, think through which way you'll turn to shoot, or whether you'll go for a second pass, and act accordingly. If you've calculated correctly and your opponent hasn't noticed, you can find an easy goal.

Scoring from Corners in FIFA 21

When taking corners, try to target the tall players on your team with high heading accuracy. You can do this either by specifically selecting that player and using him directly, or by aiming into the space where he is. The first rule to keep in mind on corner kicks is to not press the shoot button (the round button on Classic controls, or the square button on Alternate controls) before the ball arrives. If you press it too early, sending the ball where you want becomes much harder and you'll be leaving the outcome to chance.

What Should We Watch Out for When Playing on the Attack?

As enjoyable as attacking can be, the gaps you leave at the back can suddenly cost you 2-3 goals and put you off the game. On the other hand, if you time your challenges correctly and suffocate your opponent, the opposite can happen and you can secure a comfortable win.
