If you want to take your team to the next level, you need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. It's that simple.

10. Erling Haaland

Finishing: 18

He may be breaking goalscoring records week after week, but Haaland isn't the best finisher in Football Manager — not yet, anyway.

The Norwegian is one of the most talented forwards in the game and will score plenty of goals no matter who he plays for, but he's not quite a lock for a 20 Finishing rating just yet.

9. Son Heung-min

Finishing: 18

Son may not be having his best season so far, but his goalscoring exploits last season didn't go unnoticed by the Sports Interactive team.

Tottenham's wing forward carries an impressive 18 Finishing rating, and combined with his pace and dribbling, it's easy to see how effective he is playing close to goal as a winger.

8. Ciro Immobile

Finishing: 18

Lazio have a number of talented players, but Ciro Immobile may be the most effective in attack.

At 32, he probably only has a few years left as a top-level player, but if you need someone to score goals right now, Immobile is a solid bet.

7. Luis Suarez

Finishing: 18

This summer Luis Suarez said goodbye to European football, returning to Nacional, his boyhood club in his legendary striker homeland of Uruguay.

He's probably not worth signing to FM23 at this age, but he doesn't seem to have lost much of his finishing ability.

6. Duvan Zapata

Finishing: 18

Zapata's ruthless finishing is one of his biggest strengths — but what really makes the Colombian such a tough opponent is his strength and power.

With standout physical attributes like 19 Strength, 17 Pace and 15 Jumping Reach, Atalanta's forward is a complete nightmare to defend against.

5. Romelu Lukaku

Finishing: 18

After his misses at the World Cup, who knows whether Sports Interactive will reconsider, but Romelu Lukaku is still among the best finishing strikers in the world.

For Romelu Lukaku, a disastrous Chelsea return has given way to an equally disastrous spell back at Inter.

His loan at Inter ends at the end of the season and he returns to Chelsea, so if you're in charge of the Blues, you won't need to sign a new striker.

4. Harry Kane

Finishing: 19

Harry Kane, the player who impresses me the most in real life when it comes to finishing, has found himself at number 4 on the FM23 list too, proving once again that he's one of the elite finishers.

Because his managers have used him more and more as a link-up player in recent years, we can forget just how good he is at putting the ball in the net, but he's a complete goal machine.

With a 19 Finishing rating among a host of other strong attributes, Kane will score and create chances wherever you play him on the pitch. To land a striker like Kane, you'll need to throw everything you have at it — good luck...

3. Robert Lewandowski

Finishing: 19

No surprise here. Of course Lewandowski is one of the best finishers in Football Manager 2023; the man makes scoring goals look ridiculously easy.

You have little chance of prying Lewa away from Barcelona, so if you want to take him for a spin you'll need to take charge at Camp Nou.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

Finishing: 19

He may be nearing the end of his career, but Ronaldo still knows exactly where the goal is.

Since he's 37 at the start of the game, I'm sorry to remind you that you'll only be able to play with the Portuguese star for a few more years at most, and covering his hefty wages won't be easy either. If you're in charge at Old Trafford before he retires, enjoy Ronaldo's final years!

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Finishing: 19

Now we have arrived at the star we teased at the start.

Step aside, Haaland. You might be the player of the month, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't respect your elders.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 40, but he's still good enough to spend a final couple of years at a top club. He'll probably retire in a year or two, but it probably wouldn't be too hard to sign him for one last run.
