Unlocking Agents by Leveling Up

If you are new to VALORANT, you can jump into the game using the starter agents and level up by making certain progress. When you reach level 5 in progression, you can pick a new agent. In the same way, when you reach level 10, you can pick another new agent. All of this takes 1-3 hours for an average player, and 3-6 hours for inexperienced players.

Unlocking Agents With Contracts

Another way to unlock agents in VALORANT is the contract system. You select the agent you want to unlock, choose "Activate" and grind experience points for that agent. Once the required experience points are earned, you progress in the contract of the agent you want to unlock. When the contract reaches level 5, you can comfortably play the agent. You can only apply a contract for one agent at a time, but you can also stop a contract halfway and pick another agent. In that case, if you return to the agent you switched from, you don't lose any of the progress you earned.

Unlocking Agents With VALORANT Points (VP)

This system, generally used when a new agent is added to the game, is a method mostly preferred by experienced players. Players who want to experience a newly added agent right away can buy VALORANT Points, or VP, and get quick access.
