The first trailer and official poster for Minecraft's first-ever live-action film adaptation of history's best-selling video game, the highly anticipated Minecraft Movie, have been released. The big-screen adaptation of one of the most popular games of all time stars Jason Momoa, known from Aquaman, and Jack Black, the famed Hollywood comedian and star of "Kung Fu Panda 4," sharing the lead roles.

The long-awaited film adaptation of Minecraft, one of the most popular games of all time, is getting ready to meet audiences on the big screen. The eagerly awaited Minecraft movie trailer has finally been released. The first trailer and official poster for A Minecraft Movie, which has Minecraft fans buzzing, are now out. Jared Hess, known for films like Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, directs the film, with Jason Momoa and Jack Black sharing the lead roles. The cast also includes Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Jennifer Coolidge and Kate McKinnon.

What is A Minecraft Movie about?

In the highly anticipated Minecraft movie, four misfits — Garrett "Garbage Man" Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) — pass through a mysterious portal, and we follow their adventure alongside dozens of familiar faces from the Minecraft world, including Piglins, zombies and pigs! The plot of the iconic game's first big-screen adventure goes like this: When four misfits — Garrett "Garbage Man" Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) — are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld, they find themselves grappling with ordinary problems in a bizarre, cubic wonderland fueled by imagination. To get back home, they'll need to master this world (while also protecting it from threats like Piglins and Zombies) and team up with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black), on a magical adventure. The journey they embark on together will push all five of them to be brave and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative — in other words, the skills they need to succeed back in the real world.

The film, which blends the real world with the Minecraft universe in an interesting story, has a behind-the-scenes team full of accomplished names.

The film is produced by Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jason Momoa, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Olafsson and Vu Bui. The executive producers are Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, Jonathan Spaihts, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary and Anthony Tittanegro.

Director Jared Hess's creative team behind the camera includes BAFTA-nominated cinematographer Enrique Chediak, Oscar-winning production designer Grant Major, editor James Thomas, Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon and costume designer Amanda Neale. Casting for the film was handled by Rachel Tenner. Music supervisors are Gabe Hilfer and Karyn Rachtman, and the film's score is by Mark Mothersbaugh.

The highly anticipated A Minecraft Movie, distributed in Türkiye by TME Films, will be in theaters on April 4, 2025.
