Who Were We Running From, Mom?

In first place is a Turkish series that's new to Netflix. Starring Melisa Sözen, Eylül Tumbar, and Musa Uzunlar, the series has already jumped straight to the top spot! Adapted for Netflix by Ertan Kurtalan from Perihan Mağden's novel, the series follows the traumatic relationship between a mother hiding her past and her daughter. If you've watched Ginny & Georgia, I can tell you the premise won't feel unfamiliar. The mother and daughter turn hotels into their home and live life as fugitives; let's see if they manage to stay hidden. Once you watch it, you'll find the answer to all this mystery.

The Night Agent

In second place is The Night Agent, another book adaptation. Adapted by Shawn Ryan from Matthew Quirk's novel of the same name, the series is an action-thriller that's quite gripping. The series stars names like Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, and Hong Chau. The series follows FBI Agent Peter Sutherland getting swept up in a wide-reaching conspiracy involving a mole at the highest levels of the United States government. Our character works together with Rose Larkin, a terrorized former CEO, to save his nation. Recommended for fans of crime and action!

Shadow and Bone Season 2

And now, on to third place on the list! In third place is Shadow and Bone, which I also watched recently and enjoyed a lot. Just like the other two series, this one is also adapted from Leigh Bardugo's book series. If you watched season 1, I think you'll enjoy this season quite a bit too. A quick note for those who don't know it; Shadow and Bone tells the story of Alina Starkov, a young orphan and mapmaker in the nation of Ravka's First Army, discovering that she's a long-awaited Grisha with special powers destined to destroy a great danger in the universe. This season focuses on the tension between Alina and The Darkling. A bit of romance and a bit of fantasy get thrown into the mix as well. That said, I still feel it doesn't quite capture the impact the first season had. I think anyone who hasn't watched the first film in the series should start from season 1. The series stars actors like Jessie Mei Li, Ben Barnes, and Archie Renaux.

The Glory

In fourth place is The Glory, a South Korean TV series written by Kim Eun-sook and directed by Ahn Gil-ho. Netflix places special emphasis on Korean productions, to the point that it even has a category dedicated solely to Korean shows. Starring Song Hye-kyo, Lee Do-hyun, and Lim Ji-yeon, the series follows a former victim of school violence who takes revenge on her bully after starting work as a homeroom teacher at her bully's child's elementary school. I can say it's tailor-made for anyone who especially enjoys Korean productions! This revenge plot will take you through new twists and an absorbing adventure.

In fifth place is a production that has stayed popular since the moment it came out. That, of course, is You. Like most of the series we've listed, it's adapted from Caroline Kepnes's books, and the lead role is played by Penn Badgley, whom we also know from Gossip Girl. However, in this American psychological thriller, he shows up as quite a chilling character. The series follows the story of a charming and dangerously obsessive young man. Our deeply obsessive character does whatever it takes to sweep the people he falls for off their feet, but his obsessions turn their lives into a complete hell. If you like psychological thrillers, you might enjoy it, but it's not a series I'd particularly recommend to people who don't like the genre. All that said, of course, you can still give the series a shot and watch it.
