Stray, published by Annapurna and developed by BlueTwelve Studio, is a dystopian adventure game where you play as a cat trying to escape the city it finds itself trapped in. During this adventure, you're likely to run into some puzzles of varying difficulty. Some of these puzzles require safe codes to let you open doors or the safe itself. Finding the puzzles usually isn't a problem — the truly hard part in Stray is figuring out the code for the door or safe. Luckily, the answers do exist, and they're usually hanging on the city's walls or hidden behind something. Stray is full of puzzles and adventures. Four of these puzzles require a code to crack the safe. Here are Stray's safe codes and how to find them.

What Are Stray's Safe Codes?

The Flat Door Code Location

The first code you'll come across is located in the flat where you first find your drone. The drone will guide you to the door, but figuring out how to open it will give you some trouble. Luckily, it can be done in a few easy steps. After finding the locked door, you'll need to turn around to face the end of the hallway. Then head to the open door on the right. Inside the room, if you turn around, you'll need to look at the wall on the left, or the wall facing the piano. On the board, you'll find Stray's door code covered by paint cans. Make sure you light up your torch, otherwise it'll be too dark to see the code. The last step in finding the code is doing what cats do best: knocking things onto the floor. Jump onto the board and push the paint can off. This will reveal the code: 3749. Head back to the locked door, go in, and everything will open up.

The Slums Door Code Location

This is the second and final door code location you'll need to find. It's located in the Slums, and more specifically, it can be found in Seamus's home. This time, it involves telling the time. After learning there's a hidden room, you'll need to head to the right side of the room. When you spot a picture resembling Seamus and his father, jump up and scratch at it until it falls. Once the picture is pulled down, a clue about Stray's door code will appear, but you'll need to flip it first. Flipped over, it'll read "time will tell". Telling the time comes into play here. Even though the clocks themselves look quite different from what we're used to, they all show a recognizable time. This code is: 2511. Once you've found the code, turn right and scratch the biggest picture. The picture falls down and reveals the keypad. Just enter the code and explore the hidden room.

The Slums Safe Code Location

The second safe code location is found relatively early in the game. It can be found right after meeting the Guardian, and it rewards you with a Music Sheet. Figuring out how to open the safe in the Slums is fairly simple. After meeting the Guardian, head to the stairs on your left and pass by a musician leaning against the wall. Keep going until you reach a door, then continue heading left, and the safe should come into view. As you approach the safe, you'll find Stray's safe code is undecipherable. To decode it, head to Elliot Programming and scratch at the door to open it. Once you enter Elliot Programming, talk to him and he'll tell you to head to a place called the Duffer Bar. It's not far from where the original Guardian is. Head there and look for the neon sign. Jump up to the sign, scratch the picture, and it'll reveal Stray's safe code, which is 1283. Then head back to the safe and you'll be able to grab the reward.

Midtown Safe Code Location

The final safe code is found in the story's 10th chapter, known as Midtown. Luckily, this one requires very little exploring and takes place mainly in the same room. The first thing you'll want to do is look at the Electronics shop. It's fairly bright, so it shouldn't be too hard. Then jump through the window and into the room. You can see the safe in the top corner, but it's worth grabbing the code first. After going through the window, turn to the unreadable poster and have your drone flip it over. This will give you the safe code for Midtown. Since it's backward, the code turns out to be: 8542. Then jump toward the safe behind you and enter the code.
