The game has an upgrade system that lets you improve the various weapons you find along the way to make your life easier. But you might not know which weapons to focus your leveling on. What Are the Best Weapons in The Callisto Protocol?

Stun Baton

The Stun Baton is quietly one of the best weapons in the game. It comes in handy when you run out of ammo (which happens a lot). Since dropped gear is randomized, you'll sometimes find yourself with little to no ammo, which can make the Stun Baton your only option in some situations. The other key factor is that some bosses force you to use the Stun Baton. That's right, there are a few end-of-chapter monsters that are nearly invincible against bullets and force you to use the Stun Baton. To make your life easier, we recommend maxing out the Stun Baton or at least unlocking its damage at level 2.

Gravity Restraint Projector

The Gravity Restraint Projector (GRP) is a weapon that comes in handy during certain sections of the game. It's so effective because it can be used to throw enemies into spinning fans, off platforms, or onto metal spikes, instantly eliminating them. Depending on your surroundings, the GRP can be more effective than every other weapon, so we recommend maxing out its energy and charge speed if possible. Speed matters too, but having more energy and charge speed is the more important factor.

Riot Gun

The Riot Gun is essentially a shotgun, so it's very handy for clearing out enemy swarms. The game has certain sections that throw enemy hordes at you, so upgrading this weapon will pay off. Specifically, we recommend aiming to get the high-capacity magazine upgrade, which at minimum lets you fire more shots without needing to reload. It also has an explosive round upgrade that deals splash damage too, making it an extremely effective crowd-control strategy.

Hand Cannon

Finally, we recommend leveling up the Hand Cannon, the starting pistol. It's not the strongest, but it's fast, which often gets you out of a jam when dealing with enemies about to mutate. Since you have it from the very start of the game, giving you plenty of time to pour credits into it, it stands out as a great weapon to level up. Its strongest asset is its "Boom Rounds," which serve as an alternate fire module and deal explosive damage to enemies.
