Clash of Clans changes the number of buildings and walls you have at every Town Hall level, so you need to rebuild your village layout to make the best use of whatever buildings and walls you have.
The two things to keep in mind when shaping your village are farming and trophy protection. Some villages are built more for loot farming, others for trophy protection. A village layout that tries to protect both trophies and loot at once is called a hybrid layout.
In this article you'll find an example for every layout type, and you can build your own village based on them.
Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 Farming Base Layout 2021
Our loot is stored in the gold, elixir, and dark elixir storages. Layouts that keep these buildings in the center of the village, surrounded by defensive buildings, are the ones that will help protect our loot the most. The image below is a great example of this.

Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 Trophy Base Layout 2021
In Clash of Clans, players are placed into specific leagues based on their combat skill. You earn trophies from the destruction percentage and stars you get when attacking rival villages. You also earn trophies when your opponent fails to get a star against you in an attack on your village (destruction stays under 50% and your Town Hall isn't destroyed). To earn trophies, you need good attacks and strong defense. As you win trophies you move up leagues, and moving up leagues also increases the loot bonus you receive.
Looking at the village in the image, to meet one of the two conditions for not losing trophies, namely keeping the Town Hall from being destroyed by the opponent, it's positioned right in the center of the village and protected by all the defensive buildings. Since the focus of this village is not losing trophies, its gold and elixir storages are placed at the very outer edge of the village. Since the gold and elixir storages are high-HP buildings, they take time for the enemy to destroy. Enemy troops spending their time destroying these buildings costs you time and costs the opponent troops. The troops in the clan castle will also carry out a quick first strike against the enemy given the clan castle's position.
The village in the image can be brought down more easily with a Hog Rider attack. However, since this troop is produced with dark elixir, it won't show up much in farming wars. That's why this layout will give you a big advantage in protecting your trophies.

Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 Hybrid Base Layout 2021
The goal of hybrid village layouts is to defend both trophies and loot as much as possible. In these kinds of layouts, the enemy generally takes 1 star and a trophy from us. But this way, we still keep hold of most of our loot.
In the image we've provided, the Town Hall sits side by side with the clan castle right in the center of the village. The gold and elixir storages are also close to the Town Hall, and all the defensive buildings are arranged around these seven buildings. Consecutive wall sets protect the village well against ground attacks, while air defenses do the same against air attacks. As shown in the image, traps also play a critical role against potential attacks.

Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 Hybrid Honeycomb Base Layout
Honeycomb layout villages are larger and very well protected by walls. During an attack, enemy ground troops get split up and forced to move in different directions. In an air attack, dragons are forced to attack at a very wide angle, so they only end up targeting buildings on the outer part of the village and can't push toward the center, which lets the buildings we've placed at the center survive. This translates into not losing loot and not losing trophies.
Clash of Clans Town Hall 7 Clan War Base Layout
Since a clan war isn't a loot war, the only thing that matters is keeping the destruction of your village to a minimum. In the example layout, the Town Hall and clan castle sit at the center of the village in a fully protected position. High-HP gold and elixir storages are positioned toward the relatively outer part of the village to stall enemies. The builder's huts in the 4 corners exist purely to buy time. The best weapon for bringing down a base like this is the Hog Rider. To prevent attacks like this, placing giant bombs on the defensive building closest to the outer edge of the village, or side by side between two defensive buildings inside the village, will strengthen your hand a lot.
