What Is an Icon Card?

Once you've laced up your boots, FIFA 22 ICONS honor the greatest footballers of all time with special cards in Ultimate Team. Not only will they play for some of the best teams in the world, they'll also be a perfect addition to our FIFA Ultimate Team. It's likely the FIFA market will place a premium on them too.

Since ICONS launched in FIFA 18, four new additions have been made every year, and FIFA 22 will get four more new additions. And if the latest announcements are accurate, there could be even more this year.

We're not talking about the great Greek philosopher, but the Brazilian football legend named Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira. He played for Flamengo, Corinthians, Santos, and Botafogo. He played for the national team between 1979 and 1986 and scored 22 goals in total. In FIFA 22, with his beard and bonus header, he'll score great goals and rack up assists.

After Barcelona, he went to Brescia, Roma, Al Ahli, and finished his career at Dorados de Sinaloa. He later coached FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, and is now regarded by most authorities as the best manager in the world.

Along with his dribbling, his pace will be one of the main reasons to add him to your Ultimate Team.

He earned 99 caps for the national team between 1999 and 2010 and scored two goals. He's the only defender you'll find on our list, and definitely one of the best! In FIFA 22, his 90 shooting and 93 pace make him one of the biggest attacking threats around.

During his active years, as a product of La Masia, he was one of his team's greatest midfielders, full of spirit and courage. Alongside his spirit and courage, his incredible vision, the fact that it was nearly impossible to take the ball off his feet, and the impact he created with his eternal partner Iniesta helped him leave his mark on an era. Now he manages FC Barcelona, and the developers at FIFA have created a truly impressive Icon card that does him justice.

He played 71 matches for Les Bleus between 1995 and 2008. For FIFA 22, the developers chose to boost his card with defensive and physical skills, and his stats are genuinely mind-blowing.

Ricardo Izecson Dos Santos Leite, better known as Kaka, is a football genius who made his name at Sao Paulo FC in Brazil before moving on to AC Milan and Real Madrid. He scored 29 goals in 92 matches for the Canarinha between 2002 and 2016. His style is unpredictable. He was a fan-friendly player on the pitch and a huge asset for the clubs that kept him on their roster. He's one of the most coveted Icon cards on the FIFA 22 FUT market. Back before his name was well known, he was recommended to Gaziantepspor in 2003 but wasn't signed. Kaka, one of the biggest examples of why Turkish scouts couldn't bring solid talents to Turkey, is simply amazing when it comes to his stats too, and since you'll be able to make the most of these stats and his gameplay as someone who was mesmerized watching him play in real life, the gold medal goes to Kaka in style.
