In the shadow of the money-printing FIFA Ultimate Team, FIFA's recent Career Modes have been neglected, and many fans have missed the days when it was the series' standout feature. FIFA 21 introduced a few highly requested additions, like improved player training and Interactive Match Sim, and FIFA 22's Manager Career promises the return of something fans have wanted back ever since it was removed: a create-a-club system built on top of that.

With custom clubs, FIFA 22 players can build their own team from scratch. That means deciding what kit the team wears, what the stadium looks like, and even the starting squad. Having this level of control over a team, combined with some of the smart decisions EA has made around club creation, looks likely to make players feel like the manager of a real-life football club.
How Does FIFA 22 Let Players Customize Their Club Team?
Once a league is selected, FIFA 22 gives players a starting squad drawn from that league's real-life makeup; for example, if 5% of Ligue 1 players are Spanish nationals, then a player generated for a club team created in Ligue 1 will have a 5% chance of being Spanish. Of course, this squad can be changed through transfers and free agents, but the club's initial look will match the league's real-life structure.
A Rivals Feature Is Coming to FIFA 22 Career Mode!
FIFA 22 Career Mode will also let players pick a team from their starting league to serve as a "Rival." This club will act as a benchmark for the player, and matches against them will get extra attention in [FIFA 22's in-game] broadcast presentation, along with extra news and in-game storylines. In theory, this could be compared to the newspaper coverage and buildup around Derby weeks in the Turkish league.
What Features Are Coming to FIFA 22 Manager Career Mode?
Beyond the starting options, players will also get the chance to change and upgrade their kits, badges, and stadiums at the end of the year for every club. FIFA players will now be able to do something similar for their own FIFA 22 teams, which will help the mode feel more realistic.
